Hi
I was just wondering how many people out there studying Thai at a language school are happy with their lot.
I have studied at three language schools and all have been good at a particular part of teaching, but lacked the continuity to see their promises through.
Apathy to students seems to be the number one problem. Suggest something or ask for a specific thing to be implemented seems to nbe too much trouble for them. It seems they want to carry on where the Thai government school mentality left off.
The material is ok and the teachers fine, but what students really need is to be fully immersed in a language in order to make any great progress.
Course CDs are a must in order to practice reading at home. Better still open an intranet for the school and make all the sound files available to school students via MP4 files etc. I suggested this to my school but nobody seems to care about this important learning sequence.
Oh well, that's got that off my chest. I just wish schools cared more about their product rather than their bank balances

Laos Thai Embassy In Vientiane
2011-02-23 00:34:50
Just back from Laos and very happy to have a shiny new Ed visa in my passport.
There were around 350 people at the embassy yesterday and many who had used Non B visas in their passport managed to get tourist visas but with a single entry only.
The lady stated that this was going to be the policy of the embassy from here on in so those looking to get 2 entries you might want to try Cambodia instead

Thai Language Courses Payment

I have a bit of a problem.I have been studying at Prolanguage( Thai course) for three months now and I have really enjoyed the learning experience and the teachers. I decided to go for the one year visa with Pro Language, but as soon as I gave them my credit card they refused my application asking me to get the 25000 in cash.
I have a cashflow problem at the moment and I cannot pull out 25000 with my card but I can pay for anything up to the value of 40000 . So I have no choice but to go to a school that will accept my credit card payment . (I even offered to pay the 4 percent levied to Pro Language but no go)
So could anyone tell me if schools in Bangkok accept payment by credit card or not. I would Email the schools but a lot are still closed.
Thanks

Levein Is A Wee Bit Naive

FOOTBALL: Craig Levein will seek permission to ditch the Jabulani ball when Scotland face Spain.
Quite right Craig. Ditch the only thing on the Hampden turf that performs.
What would you like to use? Haggis? Bull's balls or maybe take a trip back to the seveties and reintroduce the Mire???????????? WTF

Ok I admit we were a tad lucky yesterday at Newcastle but we still got the result and only because we wanted to play football and try and go forward.
Newcastle, to be fair, could have scored at least three but they didn't and were caught out with superb split balls from Charle Adam (why isn't he captain of Scotland?)
Anyway first time the bar codes have lost at St James for 26 games
next up Chelsea away.
