A Few Questions On Ilr Uk

2012-04-16 17:09:02

Hello there,

I know this subject has been done to death on here but with the constant changes in out immigration and rules/regs I would like a fresh perspective on my wifes choices for ILR.

she arrived UK October 2010 on fiancee visa

married March 2011

has FLR which expires July 2013

Went to school and obtained ESOL course skills for life on reading, speaking and listening level 1.

Has been in full time empoyment for last 6 months.

Her English is good in speaking but reading and writing is a bit basic in my opinion, I got her the Thai version of LITUK test book and no doubt she could apply herself if she had absolutely nothing else to do all day but working full time as we both do by the time we get home and eat etc studying is not really going to happen.

So my question is do we persevere with the book or with the level 1 exam she passed before are we half way there and just need to do another ESOL course.

She works with other Thai people and I have of course asked the question as to what routes did they take, she showed me a website for a course that lasts 3 days and will give you the certificates needed to get ILR which is what a couple of them have done last year, does that seem right?

I would like to get the ball rolling sooner rather later to avoid previous experience I had when in the hands of the home office and their lengthy waiting times in limbo.

Regards and appreciate any advice/pointers for next move Posted Image

U.K Thai Wife, Name Change On I.D Card Back Home And New Thai Passport?

2012-01-03 17:24:26

advise as to what documents she will need?

to summarise we got married in the U.K last year and are returning to Thailand next month for holiday and to get new passport for the wife as hers runs out in March, all her U.K affairs are in our married name and we would like to get all her documents into the married name.

I understand she has to return to her home town to change the ID card in order to get the passport changed and so we need to get our marriage certificate translated, is there anything else that needs to be done?

Also one last thing....is the above a pointless exercise and should we just leave her passport in her thai surname?

Happy New Year to one and all....

World Scrabble Championship

England's Ed Martin was accused of hiding a letter 'G' during a match. A Thai player wanted him to be taken to a toilet so he could be search, although authorities refused.

Mr Martin won the match in Warsaw, and no evidence was presented to support the Thai player's allegation.

Nigel Richards, a New Zealander, took the overall title after scoring 95 points with the word 'omnified'. He was awarded th £12,700 prize.

Mr Richards would have scored little for his acceptance speech, when he just responded: "Nice." It was the second time Mr Richards has claimed the title. He also won in 2007. He beat 116 competitors from 44 countries to be named champion.

The runner up was Andrew Fisher from Australia, who lost 3-2 in the final. The deciding rubber was a comfortable 476-334 win for Mr Richards.

THE World Scrabble Championship was thrown into chaos at the weekend after a competitor demanded a rival be strip-searched for hiding the letter 'G'.
Thai player Chollapat Itthi-Aree insisted in the high-profile event England's Ed Martin be strip-searched in the toilet after a 'G' tile went mysteriously missing during their match.

The judges ruled in Martin's favour and let the Friday game go ahead with the Englishman controversially winning by just a point.

It is the biggest scandal to hit the event since one player accused another of eating a tile.

The tournament, and the £12,000 prize money, was eventually won by New Zealander Nigel Richards, who beat Aussie Andrew Fisher by taking 95 points with the word 'omnified'.

However, Richards' acceptance speech was much shorter, when he just responded: "Nice."

It was the second time Richards has claimed the title. He also won in 2007. He beat 116 competitors from 44 countries to be named champion at the event in Poland.

Married Thai Girl In U.K

2011-09-07 17:50:23

not sure if this is the right forum but I was led to believe if married in U.K then divorce has to be done here?

It seems the most important thing for her at the moment is to go back to Thailand a.s.a.p!

I am worried if I just let her go she will dissapear which selfishly could hold my life up, not that I plan to or have anyone else for the moment.

Any advice greatly appreciated.

My Thai Wife In The U.K, Whats The Chances Of

2011-06-22 20:22:17

so we can go to my brothers wedding out there in September?

Just to be clear he isn't residing in the U.S, they just chose Central Park-New York as the place to go and do the deed.

Her current visa status, Further Leave to Remain.

Anyone done it or attempted?

p.s she has a sister living in Canada so failing her being able to go U.S whats the chances of visiting next door and I jump on a plane into N.Y for the wedding, which will mean I am with her going in and out of the country ;)
