Funny you mentioned the rude guy at AV, I had a similar experience there when comparing prices but ended up not choosing them due to his attitude. Its not hard to be nice;)

I asked today and was quoted 42,000 baht... So around a 20k premium for not waiting until the Thai release, which should be early next year.

Why don't you just call Apple! It's a free call and you don't have to leave your home... They will most likely be able to fix the problem over the phone, better than asking resellers of the phone here in Thailand!
