I was at Tesco in Ubon and noticed some Roquefort cheese and was stuned by the price 8900 Baht per Kilo. I then went online and found it selling for less than $30.00 (888 Baht)per pound or 1954 Baht per kilo. That's 4500% cheaper before importing it. I am in the wrong line of work as I could make a killing just on Roquefort if I cut the price in half. Welcome to Thailand, I am not sure what market the Thais are trying to protect since true Roquefort can only be made in France, but then again customs staff need their cut on everything, how else could they afford their new Mercedes or BMW's.
