2 more posts removed. Don't think that this topic has much life left. Last chance to keep on track.
I never thought it had much of a life in the first place!

All sounds fishy to me.
I don't think it is fishy.

Sounds to me like he had decided to leave or left already when he made his first post. It would have been better to mention that, but that does not make his comments less valid to me, in the process of deciding which school my kids to send to.

So I do appreciate the comments of parents here, who seem to be satisfied, and Chozen1, who gave some points for consideration, and some of the others like Amy.

So after the accusations that I and others were Kajonkiat 'Shill's' it turns out Chozen1 is actually a recent employee of their biggest competitor?

Is this something that Headstart expect all their teaching staff to do, go online and pump up their school whilst denigrating competition? Anonymously and without declaring an interest.

Seems like anytime anyone says anything positive about the school (which interestingly has been mainly parents with children who attend) they get accused of working for Kajonkiat.

The strange thing is though that I have witnessed none of the negative things that some posters keep on about, which makes me think there is a fairly large difference between either; the kindergarden and primary school or more likely the ESC/Thai programs and the EP.

Seconded.

Ok, Chozen1 (do you like the movie "Kung Pow"?)...Some details. I myself have 2 degrees, so I am well able to judge my childrens progress thanks, and I go to the school at least a few times per week , talk to teachers and other parents, I keep a very close eye on their homework (there's not much in Kindergarten, but it increases in Primary), the sports facilities which include a large outdoor area with a running track, plus a small grass football field, basketball hoops, plus an indoor sports hall upstairs are OK, though more organised sport would be good, and as I said before my son does go to play football at the weekend. I read almost daily with my daughter and I think her reading has come on leaps and bounds in the last year, she is now 9. My mother who was a teacher for 20 years has visited the school and was impressed by the facilities....

Benjie says "I have witnessed none of the negative things"... well, this is Thai Visa and negativity rules here..  SURE there are negative things. I don't like the traffic and parking, my daughter doesn't like the food they get, but anyway they have a snack bar to buy chicken, rice etc.. so we give our kids some money each day for that... toilets? are they clean anywhere in Thailand! Sharing a spoon, good grief, a new foreign teacher might have to realise they are not in Kansas any more.

Anyway, Chozen1, I hope you enjoy your new job at Headstart :) . If we had more money we might move our kids there, it's closer to our house, we know one of the owners and I'd love my kids to be enrolled in an International school. But for what we can afford, I still feel Kajonkiet is giving our kids the best possible. The new building will take ages of course, if the plans are correct and swimming pools are included, great. If there is to be an IP, we won't be able to afford it anyway, never mind, I am happy with the EP. Hope the new building has better parking and traffic flow.

This thread is so over.

It does get a bit tiring and rhetorical to say the least.

The man has the right to his opinion. Or she...

I, for one, am delighted that your child is happy at the school. Most of the kids are. That is, because they are oblivious to the underlying faults of the school. But they need not know about it.

But having an ostrich as a parent, now that is something I would not condone. But asking questions directly to the school about some of the points brought up here, now that will be IDEAL! You forget that you are a customer and that school is a business.

More reasons for the foreign teachers to get together and exit en-masse.
Good idea!! Should be more than just the foreign teachers taking that step.  People united are very powerful and unstoppable.
Assume you yourself have already done that then? Meanwhile my son had an enjoyable morning playing football at school today. Take your negativity away please. I know it sits well on Thai Visa but this is real life.

As a parent of a child in the EP school, I feel this thread has been good for both sides and I appreciate all the input.  Does all the negative things in this thread apply equally to the EP school, or is this a Thai, ESC only thread?

Like PhuketBlogger, I think the school is doing a decent job, but I too teach at home much more advanced subjects and I wish the school would let those who demonstrate a higher intellect to advance beyond their peers.

There is a major difference between 'being better than' and 'being different from'. The latter, and therefor not seeking social interactions with certain others, does not implicate the former.
Superb reply !  Incisive and diplomatic too !!

. They also seem to own the worst of the "mia falang" on the island.

Just ignore them!
:D
FWIW
What do you mean by that? You mean they have farang wives? Sorry I don't understand.
And yes I think people here are very diverse and so what if I want to hang out with like minded individuals? This could mean middle class working expats, who don't have bar girl girl friends and don't drink a lot. or it could mean fat property developers, rich old retirees who go to bars every night and only those with money.

And about Patong.. well you are right about that. I do look down on people who live in patong and pass instant judgement.

Who cares. I have my friends. I don't care if someone thinks they are better then me because they have more money, own a villa or 5 or whatever. I am so unaffected by it... I just hang out with like minded people. But don't need a forum to find friends.
