#5312377 Thai Women Extorting Money From Farlangs Through Facebook

Posted kyb789 on 2012-05-19 02:58:40

They are that stupid. I met a guy on the plane and had to straighten him out. He was so love struck. The fool. I have met many girls on the internet, that after just a few chats, start asking for money. Others just dump their sob story on you. What a bunch of idiots to fall for this stulff.

Was this a dog show? Do the judges all have seeing-eye dogs? Even the photo creates enough doubt for me, and when in doubt, leave it out.

Toon? Isn't there a song about Newcastle.....................

Unfortunately there is no DISLIKE button. Want to call her a dog, well, takes one to know one,  if I may be able to apply a corny cliche.  If your a fellow Aussie, then all I can say is I'm ashamed to have a fellow countryman with such a low opinion of those born different. I wonder if this same hatred applies to autistic children as well.

Well said.  I can understand some wishing to make a well intentioned joke about Lady Boys, and let's face it, it's human nature to joke about the unusual.  However, what I find reprehensible is those who attempt to vilify them simply because there is an issue regarding their gender.  Grow up, get real and ask yourself why you feel so vulnerable about them!

Just when you think Thailand couldn't get any more surreal it sneaks up and bites you on the arse again.

Judging by this photo he's not the sort of person you'd want to chat to in a public place either.

Of course, Peter the Frenchman was more hansum. Actually, I'm a bit confused about who's who - Mike vs. Peter. Posted Image

Why do Thai drivers just sit in the fast lane and refuse to move over ?  My own partner, quite an intelligent person , is normally a very good careful driver, but she will insist in staying in the fast lane. There's a row every time she drives on a long run. I cannot get her to understand why she should move over. I am told, this Thailand not Australia !    grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

The number plat is kar kor 911. So I guess the car model is the aged 198x Porsche 911.
911 has top speed of 150 mph  or 242 km/h (Wiki).

280 km/h is not possible.

There are many variations of the 911. Some can top 300 KPH.

#5257765 2 Killed, One Hurt In High-Speed Crash On Bangkok Tollway

I live in Lak-si, and have seen and experienced this Porsche asshol_e up by backside many a time, as I also know the reg plate, which is incidentally 911. He drives, drove now - past tense, like a maniac and I did say to my wife only 2 weeks ago he'll kill or get killed. Seems he's achieved both. I have no sympathy at all for the rich arrogant <Snip!>, and am I glad I nearly ran him off the road last week when he tried to cut me up, but I also accelerated like hell in sports mode after he was flashing and flashing, I was also speeding at 140 in heavy traffic, and he ended up with nowhere to go when he tried to cut off to the third lane. He came back up my ass, flashing again, and I slammed my brakes on - ready to hit the bastar... d.

If you can't drive with respect, no matter whether you have a Porsche, a Ferrari or a Lada, then up yours. He got what he deserved! Death!

My words were correct, and he got, in sincerity, what he deserved, as he could and probably has killed before, but got off scott free for a small buy out!

I AM saddened that he took others with him...... that is not deserved. Putting a Thai into a Porsche is like putting a 4 year old into the cockpit to land a 747!

-mel.

280 KPH ???  That is 173 MPH , on a Thai toll way......This is clearly a case of Darwin's law at work. Perhaps in order to help ensure the survival of the hisos and their idiot off spring, these high powered sports cars should be speed limited...That would also have the double benefit of helping to stop the killing of other innocent people such as the other driver here who was killed.

#5241623 Is Bangkok In Thailand?......

Posted canuckoverseas on 2012-04-23 00:58:19

Interesting perspective. I was just in Bangkok for a 10 day holiday. I work in Cairo. I went to Bangkok to enjoy the modern shopping malls, endless selection of restaurants and bars, copious electricity, and other entertainments. Everything that constitutes a thriving metropolis in the 21st century is to be found in Bangkok and the people are wonderful. In fact, Bangkok has a very unique pulse compared to say, London, Singapore, or (really soulless) Dubai. Perhaps you're just not a city person.

I've also lived in various African countries, in rural areas. I lived in Zanzibar a few years ago when the island's main power generator blew up and the whole island of a million people was in the dark for four months. Village life is the same anywhere in the world, quaint. Quaint isn't for me. ;)

Good to hear Yingluck is making progress on solving Asias problems and the trip has resulted in a windfall of 6 billion yen.

Before Yingluck starts solving Asia's problems, she may want to consider solving Thailand problems first...Posted Image

Yeap with this cash they may be able to buy the tablet computers they promised, implement the minumum wage of THB 300/day they promised, give all University graduates the THB 15000/m they promised and erradicate all drugs in Thailand by 2015 as they promised....Posted Image

Come on, we can't knock her down every time. Give her some credit, she has represented Thailand on an international stage, has tied down a nice piece of short term investment whilst the dam in Myanmar will be a long term investment which should bring jobs and development to both Thailand and Myanmar. If she can get Japanese companies to offer skills training to SME;s even better.

When I first read the op's topic, I felt that I couldn’t empathise with her situation or question.

Now, I just feel sadness ...

She obviously has an inner strength and a compassionate, caring nature.

Sort of reminds me of that lovable excentric Aunt who never married, never really knew true love (or knew true love once but now that that moment has been lost) and for some reason, every day seems a battle just to survive with some dignity.

I don't suggest for one moment aneliane is that Auntie sitting in the corner, alone, patting the dog.

Maybe not so much the originial question that needs answering, but some warmth and compassion needs to be shown.

Sometimes we don't need to have answers ...
I don't need compassion, I need honnesty.
Ok it is obviously impossible to adress this issue here and every answer is unfortunately questioning me.
It is a shame that you cannot deal with a dent in your paradise pretty pic,
My personal situation has nothing to do with the establish racism in this country, and as I said previously I met other foreigners who admit they experienced it. Amongs them, a british journalist for the financial times, an italian manager at UNO, a korean painter, a head teacher in an international school.
I actually read here also on Thaivisa some posts about the institutionalization of racism in Thailand.
I realize it is a taboo question for most of you I think are in denial.
I love Thailand, but I am able to look at this country and see its failures.
I wish I could have found some people who share the same views, here but I think I gave too much info about me which gave arguments to people in denial.
Oh well, live and learn !
Best wishes!

No one is in denial of course there are some racists like every country, but people don't think the situations you describe are down to racism, more a failure to communicate or that the people just don't like you. If you do do like someone has already pointed out go down the 20Baht veggie eatery in your 3000B clothes from Paragon and think you are like the poor locals in their 20B from the second hand market clothes then is it surprising they don't like you. That along with not learning the language and thinking everything that people say is derogratory to you when you can't even understand them. Your facial expresion must show when you think you are being insulted. How do you even know they are saying farang and not farang meaning guava, man farang (potato), man farang tohd (chips), mahg farang (chewing gum), rab bra tahn (eat) ,  when they are speaking fast and you don't understand the other words they say ?

You've also got to remember people here aren't taught the same manners or ways here. I had the same as someone posted earlier many times when I first came here standing politely waiting to be served while the woman busy working at her stall was busy chopping not paying any attention to me, while every Thai just came along and shouted what they wanted while I stood there. Eventually what looked like her husband came across and rescued/ served me. It's just the way she worked while busy. I was thinking the same is this because I'm white ,but no it wasn't.

The bank got a new girl handing out the queue tickets, several times I went and as I'm about to press the button and she would barge in front of me and get a ticket for the Thai she was already with even though no where near the machine. I thought you racist shite and just ignored her and treated her like she didn't exist for a few months before one day my wife came back from the bank and said the girls at the bank asked what the girl had done to upset me, so I told my wife and she said she does it to her as well. The next day at the bank my wife told her and she apologised and said her training was to serve the person she was with. The problem wasn't that she was racist, just hadn't been taught the same manners as me and was following her appalling training to the letter in her first job. She wasn't there for much longer, maybe other people (Thais) complained about her as well.

Same bank sitting in the queue for half an hour or more the bank had already locked it's doors and they let some guy in who just went straight upto the counter and got served. I thought oh great yet again the invisible farang, but looked behind me and there was also a Thai guy waiting who shrugged his shoulders. It wasn't the guy was racist just an arrogant selfish A hole that thought he was more important than other people.

The woman who rents space of my wifes family for her restaurant thing here, I ordered when no on else was in the place then people came just after me I sat there holding my then 2 or 3 month old son waiting  for half an hour for my ghia pad king while watching Thai person after Thai person who came after me getting served. This had happened a few times before so I just got up and walked away and ignored her as she shouted something I didn't understand behind me. I said to the wife how can that woman rent space off us if she has a problem with farangs. Again the person in question asked my wife later what was wrong and she told her. The woman said this has happened with other people( I'm the only farang barring friends that has ever eaten there) and that other people get up and walk away or complain and walk away. The woman said it's the way she cooks things and my wife told her that she should cook for people in the order they come and that's why people are walking out. My wife pointed out that maybe that's why she doesn't get anything like the same amount of customers she got when she opened, so now she has changed and people stay. Again you could look like racism if it happens to a farang, but it's just she didn't think about how she was doing things.

What do the postions of the people you are talking about have to do with anything ? I wouldn't be surprised if they live in expat communities and barely know any Thais or any non westernised Thais baring their maids. The type of communities that produce the repulsive loud mouthed kids in Emporium that treat the workers there like dirt which I imagine is how they treat their maids.

If you want to send your time fretting about it forming groups and upsetting people, good luck to you, you may need it like the guy on the BTS might do now, but I'm sure others will just shrug it off and get on with enjoying their lives.
