I just found that the original price was THB 964,000.

Will check out Red Book

I paid 940K for mine Civic EL.in 2007.
If I where you, I would pay the extra 180-200 K and get the new model.

Whats the waiting list time with Honda? must be long as they only just recommenced full production. Thinking of going to the dealer today and asking about the current City model for the wife!.

6-7 month waiting list for new City.

Apparently it's because of the floods last year, plus the demand because of the Government tax back for first time buyers scheme.

But Ross Walker, economist with Royal Bank of Scotland, said: ‘When you look at where we were before the credit crunch – at $2 for example and more than 1.70 euros – then you could argue that the pound is still quite cheap."

I'm not aware that the EUR ever got much over 1.6 to the GBP; it certainly didn't in the last 10 years.

This display of financial acumen might explain why the RBS share price dropped in value by 95% in the space of 2 years. Bankers.

Phutoie2 must have read and re-read that article several times in order to identify and extract the two lines at the end that are GBP positive whereas the remaining 99% of it are extremely bearish. Posted Image  I reckon P2 must be the worlds leading optomist. Posted Image

OK . enough of this nonsense people.  Let's cut to the chase.

Isn't it obvious why a person who chooses an online name 'thequietman' can't get friends?

A joke? A Bendix ™ joke?
I thought your sense of humor was surgically removed during the insertastickupassectomy procedure?
Has it grown back?

It wasnt a joke.  It was a caustically satirical observation, full of pointed truths and psychological insight.

A joke?  Pah . .  I spit on your jokes.  Jokes are for comedians.  I'm a social commentator.

The guy has a trillion online names to choose from, and he chose one that reveals a huge amount about himself and the way he interacts with people and society.

In that regard, the thread is irrelevant, and the answer to the OP's original question is crystal clear.

Much like your online name is a phonetical reference to what you like to do on a Saturday night down Patpong?

#5256206 Camping Site

Posted bangkokburning on 2012-04-28 10:46:23

PS (Sorry). Just thought of something - in Chonburi province there is a Navy base in Sattahip (Ban Sare, 30km south of Pattaya). You can drive on base with a pass. You may have to give up your dr lic and pp and so's id card. OK, so you drive on in and head down to the beach. They have bungalows there I recall and it is SUPER quiet. Mostly daytrippers, boats and songtaew from Pattaya. I DO NOT KNOW IF YOU CAN CAMP but worth asking. Its a decent enough beach and day trippers leave early.

The food at the Navy base is stellar and reasonable as well. There is a restaurant also on the beach, but that is not the one I am referring to prior. One is an outdoor restaurant, the other a large food shack.

If you cannot get a tent site or a bungalow, you can get a cheap ac room in Ban Sare and just hang out under the trees eating and drinking all day on the water with a nice view of Pattaya Skyline. It is not Pattaya (!) and while BS does have a Red Zone, it is fine for couples and families.

Earth hour, bah, humbug ,let the lycra wearing beardy left wing tree huggers switch off their lights(the lights are on but nobodys home there anyway) and the feel gooders can drive their priouses ,meanwhile i switch on an extra light ,turn the air con up a bit while using the internet  and watching tv at the same time (with the radio on in the background for good measure).
i vote to build more nuclear power stations and forget the windmills as they and all the other "green measures are a waste of time )
like another plastic bag vicar?

I don't know what a priouses is but I do drive a Toyota Prius. 4.6 litres per 100 kms, that's why Posted Image Oh, I also have another car but that's less economical at 11.2 litres per 100 km.
The battery on these things cause more polution being made than any car on the planet ,total and utter waste of 1.3 million, for a small saloon . a normal car would have set you back half a million less ,makes 4.6 literes to 100 kms look expensive when you look at it that way ,and the batteries dont last that long and cost an arm and a leg to replace.
but if it makes you feel good , enjoy.Posted Image

I don't care about pollution or being green, just plain economics coupled with practicality.

At (currently) 43 baht per litre (Benzine 91), I would be spending Bht 206,400 pa based on 40,000 km pa and at 12 l/100km. In the Prius, I would be spending Bht 79,120, a saving of Bht 127,280. In five years, I would have recouped on the premium that I paid.

During those five years, I would at least have the practically of a hatchback (not sedan), really useful as I don't own a pick up.

Regarding batteries, I have yet to come across a Prius owner who's had to pay to replace the battery (don't take it from me, this is information gathered from a dedicated Prius forum, not sponsored by Toyota).
Do you have any idea where the resources/componants for a Prius come from? What country - labour regulations, enviromental impact? I am not a green  - far from it, the publicised 'Earth Hour' is a joke, here in Phuket the street lighting is adequate but pathetic - controlled by photocells, they are inefficient, blaze away when it is light enough to see perfectly well. Do you have any figures, any informd opinion - anything? Just retoric? Do you have any informating for us, insight, constructive  ideas, labour saving hints, humourous story? Wit, sarcasim, surrealism - anything but secondhand information - something from your own experience, something original? With respect we have seen it 'heard' it, done it - what we all want to know is what you are able to contribute - nobody believes a Toyoto Prius is the way forward when hydrogen is the clear answer. Take good care, and have a good night.

Ummmmmm . . have you tried the hundreds of flight search websites?  Or even - god forbid - a travel agent?

Seriously, what on earth do you expect from the forum regarding your request?

Well Bendix occasionally someone will have knowledge of a cheap deal or offer. Possibly on one of the hundreds of sites you mention. Thereby saving me a lot of time searching.

Thanks for your fine contribution.

Edit: Just for your information...I asked a similar question last year and was able to ditch a flight I had been looking at for £550 and picked one up for £405 thanks to advice I received from a helpful member here.

I was under the impression that the sharing of such info was the reason for this forum's existence.

#5181848 Thailand Grand Prix Being Considered For 2014 Or 2015

Posted jalansanitwong on 2012-04-01 10:29:07

It will never happen for any of a hundred reasons.

The dwarf Eccelstone and his daughters control the licence fees and everything else about F1 , not corrupt Thai politicans. No graft money  so no race.

Thais couldnt organise a booze up in a brewery.
F1 cars would be banned unless teams paid massive import duties ..say......600 % on CIF( refunded on leaving country)  LOL
The sons of wealthy and influential politicans would demand a test drive or else some F1 officals may accidently fall off their hotel balcony.
Concern about F1 drivers being found dead in super luxury hotel rooms with twine hung from door knob. cctv not operating due to electrical outage.
Thailand's organisational ,know how, and security abilities are in line with Cambodia ,Laos and Burma ,  not Japan ,Korea or Australia where they actually hold races.
Thai's arent interested in F1.....no Thai drivers.
Thai's cant lay a decent footpath, so how can they lay a decent F1 track that wont melt or buckle in the heat ?

list goes on and on  TIT

#5181642 Helmets Now Optional For All Foreign Tourists

Posted BookMan on 2012-04-01 09:11:16

(I came across this interesting article today...)

Helmets now optional for all tourists in Thailand.

In a bid to boost tourism, Tourism Authority of Thailand  (TAT) have launched a campaign to make all foreign tourists aware that they are not required to wear helmets while riding motorcycles in Thailand.

Spokesman forTAT, Somchai Rangkanpang, said “We have known for many years that tourists visiting Thailand do not like to wear helmets.  Tourists are good for Thailand and we must keep them happy.  There will be an administrative tax of 500 Baht per tourist to implement this new program”.

Asked who would pay for medical expenses in the event of an accident Somchai responded: “If the tourist have an accident on their bike it will be their fault.  Many foreigners cannot ride the bike like the Thai person.  The Thai government  will offer optional compulsory insurance to all tourist for accidents.  This will cover up to 20,000 baht expenses for the owners of any rented bike.  In case of death, where the family cannot collect the body for several weeks, we will waive any overstay fines the dead person incurred whilst waiting at the morgue”

Expanding on his thoughts Somchai  stated that he expects the motorcycle road toll will decrease as a result of the TAT initiative. “Now foreign tourists will be happy when they ride their bikes and will not want to have accidents so much anymore”.

Spokesman for the Thai police Force, Suchaiwu Bigabikethanu, said the Police would regret the lost revenue from issuing helmets fines, but would issue a bulletin immediately instructing all officers to fine any foreign tourist found to be wearing a helmet.

“We will do what we can to help the tourist,” Suchaiwu Bigabikethanu told our reporter.

...yes..and I liked it better than my Toyota before...and I've driven Isuzu as well...so,what's your point?

no point i guess, izu and vigo are just slow, underpowered, low on spec, small and cramped compared to bt50 and ranger, in addition they lack latest tech, but give them a few years and they might find the funds to develope or copy them, yeah, yeah its saturday night, and I am spending it quietly to go for a bike blast early morning

Toyota copy, hmmmmmmmmm, noooooooo, they have their own agenda. Posted Image

PS. Others copy Toyota, just look  at the ''new'' offerings from others.

come on T/A, give mazda and ford a chance, they have been providing crap pickups for past 20 years, finally they present something better than hilux
