Went to Vang Vieng 3 years ago and had a great time, the scenery around is stunning and there is some excellent local Lao food to be found if you avoid the obvious tourist-trap pizza joints and pancake stalls. We went in August so, with the fast flowing river and wet weather, there was little evidence of tubing and certainly no bikini-clad women wandering the streets. In any case, the tubing all takes place out of town and only finishes up in Vang Vieng itself. VV still remains one of my favourite places in Southeast Asia and I'd happily go back.

it is simply amazing how many on here really don't have a clue even when you've been told what happened, the girls got cold feet when they went to the room and wanted to leave and they did, up to them, the two thugs returned to the bar and - FACT -  got their bar fine back without question and all was happy after that, they then had a few more drinks in the same bar and started a fight with other falangs in the bar at which point the MB taxi drivers and security interviened to try and subdue the situation, the two falngs where unwilling to listen to reason and proceeded to get their ass wooped by a couple of thais half their size, they went home and the injured falang customers in the bar went to hospital, they then returned wanting revenge and armed with a knife attacked the motorbike taxi driver and a young security guard almost fatally stabbing them and left the scene, since this time both have been arrested and released from custody after paying large sums of money to both the injured falangs and the thais, they are out and not in jail, one was on holiday and the other (the guy with the knife) lives here - I suspect for not much longer, you can debate this for another 20 pages on this forum and spill your crap about the falang victims and the bar fines and the bar girls and the rogue MB taxi drivers, the truth is what is written above and that is the end of that.

So often you hear of brutal attacks by Thai's on foreigners."Hey that farrang just took a leak, he should be crippled and blinded for life" The Soi motorcycle taxi's are very quick to get in there.
Usually once the foreigner goes down the cowedly boot goes in relentlessly and well past unconsciousness.

Som nom na  !!!!!!     these people need to get some back,  its about time they got their commupence,  ive witnesed many farangs getting ripped off by drunken whores in bars i.e cahier/ bar girl altering bill,  stealing money, rip off taxi drivers, teams of taxi driving turds beating up on one single farang,  not saying farnags dont deserve it sometimes beause ive seen farangs behave like sh*t to these girls and thai people but i think for once that these thai,s need to know that we will hit back when abused or threatened.  Good on ya,s lads  !!!!!!

That's 1 for farang but still 5000 for the Thai's.
