I need to extend a tourist visa entry by 30 days. It's a triple entry visa and I'm coming to the end of my first stay of 60 days.
From what I've read here on this forum I can do this at the Chaeng Watthana immigration office.
I'm thinking of going Friday afternoon although I've heard it can be very busy up there.
Does anyone know what it's like there in the afternoons, specifically this Friday afternoon ?
I've read lots of posts saying that people should go early in the morning. This isn't an option for me for various reasons - it's either the afternoon or I'll get a flight somewhere else for a day or two over the weekend. If I turn up there at around 1 or 2 pm will I be able to get my extension before they close for the day ?
I've never been there before so I could use all the information and advice that I can get.
Thanks !

Tot Offline In Bangkok For Several Hours Now
2012-05-02 11:32:54
My TOT ADSL appears to be offline in Bangkok at the moment. I can connect to local Thai sites but nothing I know of works internationally.
This service is normally VERY reliable with only a couple of hours downtime in the last year that I can remember.
I'm connecting right now on my Android WiFi hotspot via a Happy sim card on their 3G service which I use as a backup connection.
It appears to have been offline now for aout 2.5 hours.
I'm in the Sukhumvit area of Bangkok.
Anyone else having smiilar problems in central Bangkok ?

3 Monitors - One Portrait, Two Landscape
2012-04-11 15:38:12
I'd like to add a third monitor to my system.
I've been reading a lot of ebooks lately and I want to add a new monitor to my system to display these technical manuals as I work on the other two screens.
I can control the orientation of the display inside windows 7 to turn it to portrait mode. I'll need an additional graphics card adding which is easy to do.
The problem I have is - all the monitors I've seen in the stores appear to only have an attachable stand/ base which allows you to view it in landscape mode.
If I simply prop up the monitor against my computers tower case it will work but the monitor slides down off the desk. I don't want to put something heavy at the bottom of the monitor to 'prop' it up - I'd rather get some kind of stand that's designed to work with it.
Has anyone seen anything like this. I know they are manufactured as I've seen them in the past but I can't remember where, it wasn't in Thailand though.
I haven't purchased the third monitor yet and in truth it doesn't need to be a real high spec one, or even that large, it's just that ebooks display much more information on a single page when they are in portrait mode. Also email seems to be better suited to portrait mode.
So the left monitor would be in portrait mode followed by the middle and right side monitors being in the more usual landscape mode.
I'm in Bangkok, not too bothered about the cost but I don't really want to pay more than the monitor for some kind of stand / holding device unless I really have to.

Counterfeit Note Checker Required (Uv)
2012-01-04 18:02:51
I'd like to purchase an ultraviolet note checker so I can test for fakes.
Does anyone have any idea where I can get an ultraviolet light from to check these notes ? A small handheld battery powered one will be just fine as I won't be using it very much.
If it makes any difference It's US currency I'm checking.
