I eat in a number of restaurants in which basic coffee refills are cheerfully given.  Perhaps the OP should try a restaurant rather than McD's.
Nah, he just needs to get over the fact that this isn't the usa.

First I'd like to inform you that you don't know "what I need." It amazing what personality traits are shown regularly on TV. And FYI:
A few months ago my (Thai) wife and I were in Malaysia. Weenjoy McDonald’s breakfast when traveling. Upon getting a second cup of coffee my wife was pleasantly surprised atthe free fill up policy. I remarked that other places give free re-fills, and Iremember getting several cups refilled when I was back – living in – Hawaii, USA.

My wife asked me,” why doesn’t McDonalds in Thailand givefree refills?”  I did not know the answer, but could only give an opinion based on my experience in Thailand. I thought I'd email McD'sThailand, but they do not have anemail address. My next idea was to ask TV members who oftenseem very a/b knowledgeable and experienced.

Of course I should have anticipated the numerous individualswho frequently post “off topic” comments and give unsolicited advise e.g. if yadon’t like it leave/get out more/ etc.I now somewhat regret posting a question on TV after reading some comments - your included,  I believe judgmental types of input is not inthe true nature of Thai Visa. I could be wrong. Maybe asking a seemingly innocent question on TVis not the wisest choice.

Thanks for the many informative posts.

I haven't seen the OP come back - it's starting to look like a troll post ! :whistling:

NO this is NOT a troll post. I have been "biting my tongue" i.e. restraint of tongue and pen rather than respond to "advice" like needing to get out more. Unsolicited advice is.....and I see so many "brave" souls being RUDE and inconsiderate maybe b/c they can hide behind their make believe icons and act all "bad." WOOPS I started going where I decided I would not go. Never mind; thanks for the informative/thoughtful posts. Actually I thought the average Thai ought to get a free cup of coffee or soft drink like so many other people get from McDonalds.

Can you be more specific? Will you be residing in a city or village?
Thanks for your question.

In Topic: Isaan Being Failed By Inequalities In Education System; Thai Opinion

you know whats not fair..... having to listen to the same old crap about the thai education system over and over and over and over again. everyone knows in is ineffectual, everyone knows it is corrupt, everyone knows it is the laughing stock of asia, everyone knows that the money is squandered away on show boating. will it change.......no. end of story. educated people are thinking people and we dont want that. in the north east where i live, there is a no fail policy. where is the incentive to get the students to think,to learn, to put what they have learned into practice. the educational institutions are more concerned about morning parades, do our flowers look nice around the school, does the school look pretty. when it gets to the point where they are now cancelling lessons so the kids can learn to cheerlead and walk in a straight line, then all is lost.
the students are smart, all they need is an opportunity to learn properly and a government that cares. so no change. the almighty baht is god here and sod the rest. :annoyed: :realangry:   :ermm: :bah:

Thank you, thank you, thank you.
The system is certainly appalling, but like you I suspect it will not change in our lifetime. There is too much greed, corruption, and personal interests to spend any money of educating the poorly paid work force and sex industry. Who would supply the brothels if every young girl was educated to her potential. And what if a young man of modest means would aspire to make Thailand great.
LOL in the Land of Scams/Lack of Sanctions (LOS) little will change. Here in Isaan most people don't even have hot running water in their homes or trash pick up. But others are living "high on the hog."

In Topic: Temporary/Mobile Internet In Isaan

Good Luck. Unfortunately I suspect your visit will feel like an exceedingly long time. You might find an internet shop or decide to use an air card. These both are very undesirable if you are accustomed to having full and fast internet connections.

I move to Isaan a/b 13 months ago and it took 8 months before we were granted an internet connection from TOT. I used an air card which is over priced (for service) and slow as hell. Downloading is only a dream with this device, but can check emails etc.

Sorry for my take on this and maybe others can suggest something more appealing.

Welcome to "the sticks."
