#5288127 German Stabs Udon Thani Girlfriend 17 Times To Death

I have no sympathy for the Thai girl or the German.
Girls are interested in collecting farang boyfriends and making money out of all of them.
Farangs are idiots for taking these girls seriously.

Thai's rarely date Indians even though Indians have more money than us....why ?
Indians are too smart and impossible to extract money from..ie free houses,o/seas trips ,motor bikes, sick buffalo etc

Girls in Thailand refer to their farang boyfriends and husbands by the following;

stupid buffalo
water buffalo
brain same as buffalo
donkey
stupid donkey

face same as monkey

Farangs still love them. Sad isnt it ?Posted Image

Same same - you've added nothing to this thread but asinine urban myths and half-truths.

If see one more thread mentioning buffalos then I'll scream.

Lets move-on and talk about the real issues here - anger management, respect for women in Thailand / SE Asia, people carrying weapons etc etc..

On monday night I went to have dinner with a friend between Phaya Thai and Ratchatewi BTS stations. After the dinner I tried to flag down a taxi to go back home (Phra Ram 9). First one told me 200 baht, no surprise so I continued my search. The 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th all told me just no. I was expecting them trying not to put the meter, but they didn't even offer a fare. This reminds me of an old post about ignoring taxis when they talk to you from the window :-P Finally I took the BTS because even I was expecting something like that I was starting to lose my cool temper.

I wonder if I just look stupid or I had bad luck and all those 4 taxis didn't want to go to my area. I said to them were I was going in Thai, btw. Oh, flames to /dev/null :-P

Right. Ok.

What's the punch line?

#5267203 Price Increase For Bts Extention

Posted dddave on 2012-05-02 09:50:30

After just completing an extended trip to 6 major cities in the USA including Boston, New York City, San Francisco and Chicago, I have a much greater appreciation of the BTS. Yes; it has it flaws and annoyances but overall, it is far and away better than anything I rode on in the richest nation on Earth. Fares for even the shortest rides on US subways exceed the equivalent of B80, often approaching  B150-200.  Schedules seem non-existant and intervals can be 20 minutes to more than 1/2 hour.  To say the trains in most cities are dirty and overcrowded is an understatement, riding them is definitely not a pleasant experience. One rarely has to wait more than 5 minutes for a BTS train, a frequency and consistency unmatched by any US system I rode. Trains are invariably clean as are the stations, not the dungeon-like and surprisingly poorly signed caverns in the cities I visited.
One oft repeated complaint on this forum is the perceived rude behavior of Thais on the BTS/MRT. Compared to the downright angry and totally selfish pushing and seat hoarding (one person taking two with bags or body) I witnessed on a regular basis in the US, the Thais are mere pussycats.  There is not infrequently a real feeling of threat and danger in US subways. Long, challenging stares and other hostile actions makes one very careful  about who you look at; heads stay down, universally buried in cell phone displays. I have to say that I heard less English spoken there on public transport than in Bangkok, you don't see many suits and frilly dresses.
I'll take the BTS/MRT over US urban transportation  any day!

#5221322 Does The Songkran Water Madness Finish On Sunday 15Th?

I wish they would restrict the water-throwing to designated areas, then (maybe) everybody would be happy, even grumpy old spoilsports like me.

The water-throwing is restricted to designated areas. The designated area is called Thailand. If you don't like it you have the rest of the world to choose from. Songkran has been here longer then you, so why should they change just because some grumpy farangs say so? All farangs would don't like it should leave. What right do you think you have coming here and expecting people to change to suit your needs. So either fit in or leave.

Foreigners don't pay more than Thais for real estate.

We will have to disagree then, from what I have seen many foreigners are very foolish with money and are often charged much higher prices for all sorts of things.

Good God, you do like to imagine yourself the victim don't you?

I can assure you that new condo developers don't give nudge-nudge-wink-wink price breaks to Thais.  That is simply preposterous.  The price advertised is the price; anyone can attempt to bargain a discount and all they care about is the color of your cash -- not your skin.

And there is no landlord on this earth who would be willing to give someone a break on a second-hand condo sale because they happen to be of the same nationality.  They will sell to the first person who comes up with the cash they want, period end of story.

You are making a completely wild assumption based on zero knowledge -- so yes, we will have to disagree.

#5170901 Blind Date Meeting In Bangkok?

Why would you want to go on a blind date?
It's so easy to chat to people here and build up a bit of rapport with them. Simply take it from there.
Dead easy.

Why?
> I broke up with my boyfriend 2 years ago and have been single since then. I keep concentrate on my school then finished it perfectly and start working for a year already. I am a workaholic, I work 13-15 hours a day, I usually work Saturday and Sunday too but now I just realize that I have no life but work. Then I started to figure how I should balance myself but then I failed. I always find myself do something alone, shopping, coffee, drinking, lunch, dinner blah blah blah.
To go to the bar and pick up some? I have been go out for drink after work almost everyday at a nice, actual bar. I don't think it's a good idea, too many player. I am serious person not a player.
I accept that this is sounds silly, stupid or whatever but at least I try/ make choice. Because I have nothing to lose in this point.

Anyway, I appreciate your kind advice.
Ok so your either female or male gay but judging from your  Miss jasmine avatar and the way you write Im betting female.
This then changes some of the suggestions my fellow brethren gave which were all meant in good humour and  some were quite  funny however serious suggestion is that I just don't think blind dating is that well established  in Thailand as it is in say western countries. You might try a website like thai friendly or Thai dating etc but again its hit or miss .
You sound like you do need to get out.. working those many hours is not good for health nor your soul so  good on you for recognising this , bars are not for everyone and yes if you are female I can understand it is not probably the  greatest prospect to be hanging around bars. Surely you have some girlfriends to go out with and get out abit.  If you have interests such as sport then try and follow these through as this gives chance of meeting like minded people or at least folks with similar interests.
good luck

#5108150 Taxi Drivers Who Winds Down Window Instead Of Opening The Door

I'd rather they open the window to discuss if my chosen destination is convenient to them rather than find out it is not once I'm sitting inside..

Well, thanks for telling me what I already know about time frames and costs.

I've lived and travelled in Thailand since 1975 and do I not have the right to ask a simple and specific question about a choice I may make?

Personally and it is a personal choice, I hate that speedway between the city and airport and many times have wondered if I'm going to make the destination. I think it's supposed to be 80k isn't it ?  Not up to 140 !

Wonderfully maintained taxi's yes/no!

At least within the city in a taxi you are restricted to the slow crawl.

This is not really a rant, but a complaint that too often on this forum now, rather than getting a question answered, the norm is to pick the s__t out of what start out as genuine questions.

BTW. The main reason I asked was that I have not been in Thailand of late, am not overly familiar with the Airport Express or stations and am getting on quite a bit in age. When on a pension a few bob saved  is also good so, yes, the ? was a bit toward that angle as well.

I'm sorry in the above cases that the question was to difficult to give what should be for anyone familiar, a few kind words.

Actually it does sound like a bit of a rant doesn't it? .................. But I don't apologize!
Never mind......one day Bendix willl have to pay it out of his own pocket rather than putting it on expenses....which then gets put on a clients bill with a huge markup.  :)

I don't want to bag you out, but handing your pport over to some bozo in a fedex agency is just silly.
Why didn't you have it in a sealed padded bag labled documents?
That he actually looked though it shouldhave set alarm bells off, I would have walked then.
Go and make a police report now while it still may be recoverable.

#5054947 3 Foreigners Injured In Bangkok Bomb Explosion

Posted hermespan on 2012-02-14 17:34:19

1. My condolences to all injured or affected by this tragedy. I hope the 'supect' does NOT die, so he can be interoggated - find out if in fact he did throw it intentionally, whether he had accomplices, whther their was any reaason to his target or it was random, why he/they did such a cowardly act, who paid him/them, whether it was personal or political etc. Dead men are poor intergoatees.

2. I would like to defend Iranians as a group. Perhaps those in  BKK are different, but in Canada at least, Iranians do not fit the terrorist profile. Most are adamantly opposed to the Iranian regime, are cosmoplitan educated business people, are moderate Muslims or Bahais. I am able to discuss politics, business, history etc in the sauna with them. It is the *Koreans* I  don't get along with, because they just are not social. Mind you, Koreans don't throw bombs either...

3. Bomb in BKK by Muslim fundamentalists. Like this is a surprise!  I wonder why they haven't hit Patpong or Nana Plaza yet. Have prices depressed yet?

4. It's creepy to think of a neighbourhood where I walk in order to visit my optometrist was witness to such a violent act.
