Understand. With the time difference I do the same, even for sports.

Local 7-11 started selling GMMZ Sattelite TV boxes. They say on the box, watch EURO 2012.
As far as I can tell you need a subscription, perhaps true.  Any insight from anyone?

The Grammy TV boxes do not have any subscription fee.
Basically only the Thai channels transmitted by Truevisions (which are encrypted on a Ku band transponder of Thaicom 5) will be turned of during the euro games.
All the Thai channels which can be received free, meaning terrestrial signals, and the Free To Air sattelite signals will be having the games.
Free to air sattelite options are:

C-band Thaicom 5 satellite, receivable with any FTA sattelite receiver and C-band dish (the bigger mesh type ones).
Dtv on Ku band (the yellow Dtv dishes with assorted receiver)
Gmmz  (Ku band)
IPM  (ku and c-band)
PSI (ku and c-band)

and maybe some more.

Any of the Ku band oprions can be installed for under 3000 Baht, dish and receiver included.
Some of them also have channels on C-band, which would need the bigger dish/dual band LNB and hence will be a tad more expensive. Not sure exactly which of the channels are on c-band...

Ask your local sattelite installer, and he will be able to tell you, but don't be surprised of some price profiteering due to the Euro games!

Personally have experience with two cases handled by the consumer protection out of city hall.
One handling disagreement with a local contractor, and another with a big, Bankok based Chinese/Thai owned building material supplier.
As in both cases they were clearly at fault, the consumer board took the cases on, and once it was made clear to the offenders that they were not just dealing with a Foreigner anymore, but with Thai governmental organization handling the cases, they were very quick to settle!
Obviously not sure what would have happened if they refused and tried to actually go to court...
But as the Bangkok company was not a small player, supplying a lot to the very rich and famous here in Thailand, yet they folded so quickly, makes it look like at least they think taking on the consumer board might be a tad to much to handle....

Sir, is this consumer protection located in Bangkok, Pattaya, or both? Where was your case handled?
Thank you.
Pattaya City Hall.

In the two cases I mentioned, they were never handled by Bkk.
They started with phone calls, then moved on to official notifications by registered mail, and at this stage suddenly both involved companies started to cooperate!

I assume only after this is done without results the case gets moved over to Bangkok.

Waiting now 10 weeks on a new Pattaya plate...(new bike registration).

Didn't they pass a law you're only allowed 6 weeks on a red plate?

In Topic: How Many Gb Do You Use A Month At Home - Do You Know ?

You really have to adjust when using mobile internet and their data caps!
I tested a bit and come to 50 Mb/ day just surfing the web/emails...
Leaves only 1.5Gb/month for all your other needs. With all the multimedi, it goes fast.
A 40 min youtube clip of my favorite home tv show eats 150 Mb!
