Friends,

Isn't it possible that you both could be correct?  And, that Thai people say both and others besides?

Here is a listing of synonyms from "คลังคำ" by อาจารย์นววรรณ พันธุเมธา:

บ้า บอ บ้าๆ บอๆ ติงต๊อง บวม บวมๆ บ๊อง บ๊องๆ บ้าๆ บวมๆ เบาเต็ง ไม่เต็มเต็ง ไม่เต็มหุน สติเฟื่อง สองสลึงเฟื้อง สามสลึงเฟื้อง สติเสีย

I have  no doubt that ป้ำฯ เป๋อฯ is also said.  Domnern Sathienpong has a no doubt related word ป้ำเป๋อ meaning to be forgetful.  Certainly all these are somewhat synonymous meaning "not playing with a full deck."

หน้าเนื้อใจเสือ - Face of a deer, heart of a tiger  ( A wolf in sheep's clothing )

Face, flesh, and heart of a tiger = It's face is happy and smiling but inside it thinks bad thoughts (naa taa yim yem jairm sai tair kang nai kit rai).

No 'deer' anywhere there.
I suspect that the "deer" here is a metaphor: Think Bambi.

Seems to me that the Scope tablet is a brilliant idea for the Thai education system.  These screen-sensitive tablets will be just  perfect for young Thai students to learn the Chinese characters which the 10,000 new language teachers from China will be teaching them.  How prescient of the Thai government!

I see that the Apple app store, for example, sells an app for learning Chinese characters.  How much easier is this tool than the traditional brush and ink approach!

The Thai government obviously believess that its future lies immediately to the North, rather than in Europe or America.

In Topic: Tonally Confused

As Khun Katna tells us, Thai people often do not pronounce foreign sourced words the way they tend to be written in the dictionary.  See Lexitron's entry for เทป: "เทป /tʰéːp/  [N] tape" where the high tone is indicated.

However, this disparity may be disappearing.  In the Royal Institute's "Dictionary of New Words, Volume I" (พจนานุกรมคำใหม่ เล่ม๑) the introductory section states:

"๓.๑ คำที่ยืมมาจากภาษาต่างประเทศเขียนตามเสียงที่คนไทยส่วนใหญ่ออก เช่น . . . เหรตติ้ง . . . (อ. rating)." [Note the low tone in the first syllable and the falling tone in the second syllable of the word เหรตติ้ง.]
