that even if I discovered my own kids dealing drugs, I would turn them in without hesitation.

Struth ! - wouldn't you try and have a word with them first !!!!! Maybe help them out a bit and explain the errors of their ways ????? Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image

I agree with TommoP, there are very, very few of us that haven't tried something in our lives for a bit of a hit, or to give us a bit of a lift Posted Image when we might need it.
Apart from the occaisional alcolhol (perfectly legal) i am proud to say that i am one of the very, very few !   But then i am of the older more responsible generation !

Well I'm almost 50.

I think the poster was trying to point-out the virtue behind sayings such as "let he who is without sin cast the first stone" and that, although dealing in controlled drugs is reprehensible and should be punished by, say, a prison sentence, advocating that the authorities "string 'em up' is a bit OTT and more akin to the middle ages, or the judicial system in places such as Iran, Saudi etc..

I for one am proud to come from a country that banned capital punishment more than a generation ago and show's no sign of bringing it back (despite what the Daily Mail says).

Again, Pattaya , the breathing place of evil.

What does this even mean ?

Just because a few recedivists lurk in the place, doesn't imply the whole town is a breeding ground for evil (which is what I assume you meant to type). Your sort of post is just getting so old.

Just dont get some of the posters here, they are so negative and full of envy. I am asking honest questions so I am not making any mistake.

So if you are renting a small condo, it is not my problem, adress your frustration to the right direction

I really dont care, forums are build so people can post and ask questions, but who cares, why am i even writing this .........

In Topic: Indonesia Most Tolerant Country In The World- Religious Minister

Some questions as follows;

1 --- Why does a civililian government, have a minister for religious affairs ??

2 --- How does banning a Lady Gaga concert, fit in with the claim of most tolerant society in the world ??

3 --- Is Sharia law part of this equation, in any way ??

1 One of Indonesia's founding principles was pancasila and the state officially recognises 5 religions. Public holidays are held on each of these 5 faiths important festivals and dates. In a country that is overwhelmingly Islamic I guess this cannot be too easy and I bet this minister is fairly busy.

2 Not sure and I didn't think this was a good idea. However western popstars do have a habit of not helping themselves in this area: witness Gaga's recent crass, stereotypical comments on Thailand and Beibers disparaging comments on Indonesia earlier this month.

3 Only the Northern tip of Sumatra (Aceh) practises Sharia Law as far as I know and this was a key demand of that regions move toward a degree of autonomy. Certainly in the rest of Indonesia, it's hard to believe that this type of harsh religious law will become established: it really is such a relaxed and friendly country.

Thank you for your reply to the various questions. Okay, forgetting about Lady Gaga and Sharia law, is it nornal for other Muslim countries to have ministers for religious affairs. Which other countries please ---- seems such a weird idea.
If it works, maybe it could be a novel approach, for other countries to follow.

I think this is what sets Indonesia apart from other predominantly Islamic countries, it is over-whelmingly Moslem, maybe between 90 and 95%, but the principle of pancasila is enshrined in their constitution and the state atempts to treat the major religions equally. Hence the National holidays on Christian and Buddhist festival days, in addition to the Islamic dates.

But you're right, I've worked in some other Islamic countries, such as KSA and Qatar; now they might have a Minister of Religious Affiars whose role is completely different, in fact, almost a polar opposite !

Anyway, ignore the nay-sayers, if you get a chance to visit for a holiday or an opportunity to work there, then do it, its a fantastic country.
