I'll pass on that. I hope they lock the driver up.
Spare me days! Another tree hugging, social engineer on the loose in a country where there is little retribution for the victim of crimes like this.

IMO the driver erred by not backing over him just to make sure!

Back at home he'd be charged for attempted manslaughter. You can't just run around killing people for snatching jewellery.

Maybe we should be able to..

I was reading the other, now closed, thread related to this subject and thinking that I want to do something to help this battle against child abuse. I would be happy to set up a direct debit to an accredited agency working on this subject in Thailand.

Now this news appears and everything looks murky with this particular organization. I don't know the truth of what happened, how could I possibly? However I do know that the standards of governance in a charity of this type should be beyond impeccable.

This story looks like an unmitigated disaster, and defeats the willingness of people like me to invest in this fight. Terrible.

I am aware of the TV rule that lobbying of members is not allowed, fair enough, if it was then we would be getting bombarded with requests every day in the week. I do feel though that there is a well of goodwill and strength amongst TV members in regards to this subject.

if someone could pm me and put me in the direction of an accredited organization that I can donate to I would appreciate it.

We will win this battle one child at a time.

Three threads running right now about trafficking and HIV/AIDS.  I have opinions about all that stuff.  There is an organization outside of Rayong that takes care of HIV orphans.  These are kids who are HIV positive with no family to take care of them.  I give the organization money, time and used stuff that I don’t need anymore.  You can google it.  A number of Farang help them out and don’t get any money of publicity from it.  Bars help them out too.  Prostitutes cook and serve the kids food on holidays.  The Thai government does not do much for them.  I certainly would not send money to any charity based in another country like Australia, US or the UK.  Not that they are all bad I just would not send them anything.  I have been around Thailand for a while.

The trafficking sex slaves is phony today, the HIV/AIDS is not.  Just my opinion but like I told my GF last night, I got to Thailand before you were born missy; and she turns 40 next year.

The trafficking of sex slaves is not phony.  It does actually go on and not just in Thailand but also western countries like Australia.  This I personally know as a fact.

I respect your opinion George but I do seem to remember you being very pro Grey man when a number of men said he was a phony years ago.  Did you read the Andrew Drummond stuff where Grey man made all the claims about that, “he would blow critics out of the water.” Well he hasn’t blown critics out of the water he has been blown out of the water.  I would suggest if you know about any instances of current sex slave trafficking that you write Andrew Drummond and give him the specifics.  I think he could direct you who to report it to.

But if you don’t have any current sex slave trafficking information why don’t you stop writing like you do.  That is what got Grey man in trouble.  Making up stuff about sex trafficking that may have happened years ago but was false today.

If I am wrong and you personally do know about current sex slave trafficking like you claim, how do you sleep at night not trying to stop it?

If you think that Human Trafficking is Phony in Thailand, then you are clearly a pathalogical liar, completely blind to the world around you, or a complete idiot. No other possibility exists.

#5151659 Is Pattaya Still Good For A Family Visit?

Posted jalansanitwong on 2012-03-21 08:30:44

A Thai friend of mine was in Bangsaen recently and said the place stunk of sewerage presumably washed down from Bangkok city.
Pattaya beach has been eroded down to patches of sand surrounded by rocks, used condoms and bottles.
You're best bet is to spend real money and take your family to Krabi pi-pi-don-Phuket. Expensive, but atleast they have decent beaches.England and Ireland have better beaches than Pattaya but who goes to Pattaya for beaches?
Pattaya has nothing to do with family outings. Its been a cheap sex and poor rice paddy Isan wife buying destination since the 70's and always will be.Posted Image

#5162539 Family Of Man In Skytrain Scuffle Threatened

Posted lovelomsak on 2012-03-25 07:56:58

When i read about this I think of what would have happened in Canada, if he didnot comply with a quards request. Here is what I think would have happened especially if he tried to force his way through with the balloons. He would have probably been tasered. Then balloons and him taken to local police station and his wife and child would have had to arrange bail. He would have had to go to court and probably have a criminal record at the end of it all. He and his family should apologize to the quard, the BTS and pay the quard for lost wages , pain and suffering.
A public apology would help alot.

Helium not hydrogen is the way forward.

Good point!!  The balloons had to have been filled with helium, which is an inert gas.  Guards totally in the wrong for stopping him.  Wonder if anyone tried explaining this to the guards, or if they have even thought about it?

Had to have been filled with helium? How do you know that?

Exactly. The sign says no BALLOONS and does specify what kind of gas they are filled with. The foreigner was in the wrong and it does not matter what he got away with earlier in the day. Some arrogant foreigners seem to feel that they are entitled to not follow rules in Thailand because of their white skin.

I am sorry for those people who will not party during those 3 days ... come on its only 3 days ...and there are other things to do in life than going to party, getting drunk. Even for tourists. This is Thailand and we have to respect .

I dunno, these all look like parodies.
How about Basil (don't mention the war) Fawlty?
Mel Brooks?
Or Team America and Kim Il Jong?

The best way to depower something is to laugh at it. These shirts would be an anathema to a hardcore neo nazi.
It's been 70 years, how long do we want to carry this cross?

I say get a grip.

#5008222 Is It Worth Visiting Hanoi (2-3 Days)?

Posted PattayaParent on 2012-01-27 09:10:05

There's a few things to see in Ha Noi.

The Water Puppet Show (don't miss this)
The Temple of Literature
The One Pillar Pagoda
The Ho Chi Minh Museum
The Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum (if he's home and you don't mind standing in long queues)
Ho Chi Minh's House
The Museum of Ethnology
The War Museum
The Musee Des Beaux Artes
Hoan Kiem Lake
West Lake
The Old Quarter - you can get a free golf buggie at the lake to take you round
Everywhere there's old French colonial buildings.
The Catholic Cathederal

Enough to keep you going for a few days at a relaxed pace.

It's a greener, more charming city than Bangkok and the traffic is chaotic, but it seems to work in a weird way.

There's good local food places and international food available.

Try to get a hotel near Hoan Kiem lake.

There's a couple of good local nightclubs (one right on Hoan Kiem Lake) and a couple of P4P available western nightclubs.

When will you be going to Ha Noi because it's cold and drizzly there at the moment?
