if the workers in the thai embassy are male and of kuwait nationality then there is the likelihood that her father or brothers will be notified by them... she has to wait until 21 to try to do something and hope that her father doesnt marry her off before hand; or she may luck out and get married off to someone who will live overseas and then from there she can go off to do what she wants...

the beduins  here, and many many druze, not to mention basic arab muslem families here also have totally different ways of dealing with daughters as opposed to sons...the stories and bad consequences are endless...

it seems that the thai mother is the second wife, and has less 'say' in anything at all, no influence whatsoever, and probably has no friends in the right places to help her daughter even if she wanted to help, also, probably more worried about finances and teh realities of really leaving (and if husband catches her/them, what are the consequences)then the OP who may be correct in her feelings but not realistic enough to know what the consequences can be... the only possible way might be some kuwait womens orgs (if there are those)... kuwait isnt afghanistan but here in israel this is very similar for women in arab muslem families, even wealthy families... i personally know several (including one american woman married in to jordanian family) and trust me, daughters are not allowed to do anything w/o permission, even after age 21..

and , like here, the consequences can be fatal (death due to family honour is common enough here that it is in he news every other day.... )...

i advise, get the college degree, then try... what would happen to your mother if u were to get to thailand and didnt return?

Sorry, but I have a logic failure here.

You describe someone quite well, where they are and what is going on around them, then you ask if anyone has photos of the person that you are about to do a character assassination on? Don't you own a camera? Or have one on your mobile phone?

You drag out some rumours and imply that this person is the perpetrator of those rumours.

If he is that much of a threat - you did not warn the 'young people' hanging around him.

Words fail me. If we are all judged on how we look (maybe when our luck is dodgy), then quite a few of us are in trouble if you see us. Please stay away from me.

Man walks into the Thaivisa pub and sees his mates sitting in the corner,  bottles of Chang and Tiger in hand and trays of nuts on the table.  He reflects on what a diverse group they make.  There’s the old Asian hand with his long term Thai companion resting her pretty head on his broad shoulder, then there’s the young back-packer, mid way through a tale of his adventures with in tuk-yuk, and the ex-pat businessman peering over his Blackberry at the Aussie traveller who’s discussing the best visa run routes.  As he walks towards his friends he start a conversation;

  “Hi chaps, did you see the match last night, what a cracking game”

  “We talked about footy last week, can’t you use the search function”, snaps the Businessman as looks up from his Blackberry, “You’re only talking about football because you know my wife’s from Isaan and doesn’t like ferrang sports, you know she only follows Takraw you racist b***ard, and she’s a qualified lawyer you know” shouts the old Thai “who you calling a ferrang”, snaps the Aussie, “that’s an insult you know”.

  “Sorry guys, only trying to be friendly” stutters the startled visitor.  “Well don’t even try, this is the ThaiVisa Pub and every night is flight night, so p**s off” shouts the young backpacker.

  “Not every night, that’s just a dam_n lie” says the Aussie, “if you'd done your research properly before speaking you’d know that Tuesday nights are Ladies nights where we ask where to get a decent manicure and then lie to each other about the best salons”.

  “Sod this, I’m off” says the visitor.  “Typical!” shouts the old hand “and try not to burn the pub down as you leave, it took us weeks to rebuild the place after your last tantrum”.  “That wasn’t me, I just happened to bring my flame thrower in for the military surplus bring and buy sale and it went off accidentally” says the visitor trying his best to sound innocent.

  “That’s it, you’re all barred …. again” shouts the barman

I love it they all have a sense of humor.

Remember standard procedure when dealing with email in Thailand.  1) send mail 2) call receiver and tell them you have sent them a mail so they can check their mailbox.
