I usually live in one Immigration Office Jurisdiction but am now tending to spend half my time in another. How must I deal with 90-day reports? Can I go to the nearby office when I am at my second home or must I go back to the first one? It is a long journey.
For the Moderators: I tried to search for this; there are 831-pages of this sub-forum. The search mechanism refused as '90' is less than three characters. Hmmm.

Digital Land Area Measuring Device
2010-11-25 11:39:27
Just spent 90-minutes searching this forum and Google. There was something in this forum a while ago. Needless to say I can't find it when I want it. Can anyone please advise. I want to buy a digital device which, I am told, one points to the four, or more, corners of a field and, presto, a read-out gives the area exactly in a variety of measures including rai. What works reliably, accurately and where to buy it would be much appreciated.
Changed Retirement Extn. Rules?

A) I recently attended the new Immigration Office in Chokchai near Korat and was told:
1 I had to wait until my present O-visa had a month to go before I could apply for a 1-year retirement extension [there being only 12-days before my then next border run]. This is troubling as I read some people have been knocked back for being too early and others for being too late;
2 As a British subject I had to show only Bt40,000pm UK income or Bt400,000 in the bank and that the combination of the two was no longer allowed.
Reading this forum I see only reference to Bt65,000pm & Bt800,000 in the bank. Combination seems no longer possible.
There are some real experts on this forum; could I get their clarification please; must I now find BT40K or Bt65K pm from UK?
I have a Thai wife, marriage cert, house & documents. [Have had retirement extensions before on the Bt400,000 in bank basis].
I have a paper here announcing that the new Immigration Office in Chokchai will move again on 28th July 2010 to an address some 15-km away. A map shows it to be in or near Darl Kwean village. If this is new to the forum and of any use I can try to pinpoint it better for you.
C) I see that your text editor has converted my letter-B/close-bracket to a smiley face. Put a smile on mine so let it stand & let's see what it does with a letter-C & a close-bracket.

Anyone care to advise in the matter of a wireless-fed internet connection. Have to admit I know so little of this I might have been reading about it when I was searching this forum for the answer. (Is this an 'air card', for instance).
I guess I have to buy a laptop, for portability and because I stay in the hills near Khao Khor where I have no phone line. I don't want a heavy up-front charge as you pay with CAT [Bt6000 for a plug in – plug-in what?] Guess ideally I would prefer a monthly charge for unlimited hours. I read this might mean an AIS or DTAC SIM-card inserted into the computer so will it work as long as I can make a mobile phone call from the same location?
I accept it will be slower than landline [have been told this] and I don't expect to download large files, movies, music etc – don't know how to although I'd like to know.
I also fear problems with it demanding passwords, numbers,etc which I do not know/understand. All quite a turn-off, really. Any ideas?
Khao Khor is about 30-km Northwest of Petchabun, all uphill.
