Your point would be interesting if Thai lawyers had this insurance. Reality is they don't in a large large large proportion. They might not even know what it is...

I didn't come here to discuss about my post. I came to get information. I got info and that is what I was looking for. Thanks to the two people who contacted me.

I genuinely mean no disrespect, but isn't the fact you have no insurance of this type something you perhaps don't want telegraphed across the internet?

No sure if I understand the question.

The fact is it is VERY difficult to find these types of insurance in Thailand.
The reality is that most if not all Thai lawyers do not have them.
Thaivisa is where I can get the best answer for that. Should I use a nickname? :)

There are tons of law firms in Thailand and a lot are managed by non-lawyers, or people playing with words.
I don't do that. We actually even try to provide as much information as we can on thailawonline.

Another example: Escrow accounts. Most lawyers were I come from DO HAVE an escrow account. But not in Thailand.
So, if they tell you that will keep the money in escrow, it PROBABLY  means in their own bank accounts. I can not talk for everyone... but I believe you will understand.

Have you heard of a law firm using acid free paper to make Wills in Thailand? This is Thailand. Things are different.
Standards are just not the same here and abroad. But I am trying keep international standards, with our small team.
We are talking about policies to protect confidentiality and others. Ways to make follow up. Accessibility to files. Destruction in a certain manner for old files and more.

We never been sued, not even received a notice letter. Never. We have clients every week, probably 100 to 150 per year.

BTW, we lost 1 case only in 5 years that I manage this law firm. Only 1. (And I think the judge made a mistake!)
Nobody is perfect. We want to improve. The insurance will be an addition. So, I hope we can get it.

Many thanks Cardholder. I used to be on Thaivisa more often many years ago. I find this forum very useful but I decide to spend more time offline and with my wife!
So, I don't know the clients, their nicknames, and do not come here often.

The above link has been corrected on the original text.
Should have been:
http://thailawonline...w-and-blue.html
If links are allowed. If not, a moderator can delete, no problem with me.
Thank you for showing me there was a problem. The link was inside the text, probably a copy-paste! ;)

The problem with a certificate of residence, is there is not law, no regulation about it and all immigration office have their rules. But the forum to get it is on the official website of immigration.
Twice, I got a similar letter from a police station for 2 different clients. This letter was stating the address and used for some other stuff, like buying car and I can't remember the second one.
The police asked 10 or 20 baht for the report. That is an alternative. A Thai driver license can also provide an address. Price is about 120 baht. Or a work permit.
In some other rare situations, we used 2 different bills, like cable or electricity to show the address of a person.
But obviously, in Thailand, The YELLOW TA BIAN BAN, would be the best to show your address.
The link above, on the same website, will give you more info.

A Ta bian ban can also provide you health benefits, according to my information, if you do not have social security in Thailand.
But I never seen it used yet. I personally have Thai social security...

About Korat Immigration, last time I did my 90 days was the fastest ever.
But they are difficult to deal with non-B extensions, and non-O (support of a Thai wife) if you do it with 40,000 per month instead of 400,000.
They always ask new documents, new evidence, change rules constantly. In the last 3 years, they passed from 2 copies to 1 copy, add pictures taken in the house, some forms by the Thai spouse, change recently rules for non-B extension, check incomes of the companies and wife while it is not in the law, etc. This is Thailand, just provide the information, smile, we have never been refused an extension. But we have sometimes to submit documents twice because it is not clear.

Sorry if I don't answer next replies, I sincerely do not read this section, or other well known forums. But if you have questions, send us an email.
We are not specialist in visa and I hate visa questions! Sunbelt is much better in that field.

The previous post from "Card holder" is from ThaiLAWonline. (I don't know Cardholder) It could be nice to write the source... because this is our work. But no offense, information should be shared and forums are there for that. And the picture, is actually my OWN certificate of residence, done few years ago. Now, they often put a deadline on the letter to use it.I did not read the full topic but a friend told me after seing my picture. He thought I was cardholder....  :)

I am not cardholder, but this is my residence certificate edited.

Read section 14 of the Thai Civil Code.

The Thai Civil Code is available on ThailawONLINE.

Clause 3 of "stgrhe" is normally to do the opposite as section 14. That must be clearly written. This one, for example, is better:

---------------
  LANGUAGE/ ภาษา

This agreement is made in English with a Thai translation for registration with the Thai Authorities. In case of any legal dispute over any interpretation of any clause in this agreement, the English version shall be used for interpretation.
