Thailand to import rubber

Thailand, the world's biggest rubber producer and exporter, will import rubber for the first time to meet deliveries at a time when domestic supply is tight because of the impact of unseasonal rains, The Thai Rubber Association said on Monday.

Prapas Uernontat, the president of the association, did not specify the exact amount of rubber that Thailand would import, but said it would be equivalent to the current Japan rubber stocks of around 15,000 tonnes.

BANGKOK, May 21, 2012 (Reuters)

With the new Ford plant in Rayong expected to produce 500,000 vehicles a year it is not surprising Thailand would need more rubber for tires and parts made locally.

#5281546 Three Killed Falling From Thailand's Highest Building During Billboard In...

I see all the trillions of condos being built in Chiang Mai, and look, in vain, to see if the construction workers are wearing protective slings or even hard hats.  And "scaffolding" is laughable.

Yes, RIP those poor guys.  (I wonder how that 88-floor building would be in an earthquake?)

#5252287 Australian Financial Debt Legal Advice

Posted Rancid on 2012-04-26 18:49:47

You are being conned, SOP by the Agency. If the cards were in her name it is her problem not yours, if she was an extra name on your card then OK it is your problem. My ex did a similar thing however it was my card with her name added. The debt agency came after me with all sorts of threats, I laughed at them and told them good luck. About a month later they contacted again, this time to negotiate. I knew it would be my problem eventually so offered them 20 cents on the dollar which they outright refused. A week later they contacted me again and accepted. However if it was her personal card don't settle, tell them to get lost, they will definitely not pursue you. Also in Australia I think the time limit is 5? years, after that cannot pursue. Plenty of info online on how to negotiate these situations.

#5225060 Songkran Death Toll Way Over Last Year As Millions Return To Bangkok

How about a road safety campain 24/7, not just lip service during holidays.  How about the police actually doing their jobs and enforcing the law.  How about requiring that drivers actually take driving lessons and actually pass  a drivers test.  None of this slip the police 100 baht to ignore the infraction or slip the test examiner 1000 baht to get the license nonsense.

Nothing will change until all the corruption stops.  So not in my lifetime.

#5209458 Crater In Downtown Bangkok Road Disrupts Traffic, Worries City Officials

Posted KhunVee on 2012-04-11 15:28:39

This is a typical result of water erosion from during the flood.

Be careful there people, who knows how many more of those are waiting to .... sink? open? crack?

Yes, sure something to get worried about.

Maybe off topic, and English is only my third language,.... but is the word CRATER not a bit "drama-queen"

crater  (krPosted ImagePosted ImagetPosted Imager)

1. A bowl-shaped depression at the top of a volcano or at the mouth of a geyser. Volcanic craters can form because of magma explosions in which a large amount of lava is thrown out from a volcano, leaving a hole, or because the roof of rock over an underground magma pool collapses after the magma has flowed away.

2. A shallow, bowl-shaped depression in a surface, formed by an explosion or by the impact of a body, such as a meteorite.

"Even my friend who has a work permit and pays social security had to pay for medical treatment."

He is either choosing to pay, or doesn't understand what he is entitled to.

After about 3 months paying into the system he should have received a SS Card and been told which hospital he is assigned to.
Perhaps he didn't like the hospital and goes somewhere else.

If he does it right, he shouldn't have to pay for almost all services and meds.

The whole Southern insurgency thing is complex and beyond meaningfull, superficial commentary here, but use of it for making silly little political points in the above article is noted. Everything from shouting out in bold heading the 'fugitive' terminology, hoping to project felonious innuendo onto a political adversary, and using 1/3 of the article to reverentially quote a political leader with truly culpable baggage that would be congruent with the 'fugitive' moniker, demonstrates subtle intent perhaps not noticeable to many.

Fact - He is indeed a known fugitive from the Thai Justice System
Fact - He is a known liar

What else need be said?

Only that he has been comfort-eating a lot over the last 4 years.

#5181597 Mastercard, Visa Confirm Credit Card Data Theft Described As 'Massive'

Agoda didn't send confirmation for online booking late last night and THAI's online booking function looked disabled around the same time. Maybe they used the same payment clearing house? Anyone else having issues with those two sites?

Off to the airport to book direct anyway.
