Dr. Tanewat Vaseenon

2012-04-19 09:17:32

Does anyone have direct experience with this orthopaedic doctor?
Dr. Paiboon at Ram who I've known for ages, told me yesterday that he is the only real foot specialist, in Chiang Mai, which has been ongoing since 2005. He said he refers complicated orthopaedic foot problems to him, rather than tackle them himself. This in itself seems a good recommendation, but I would like to hear of any personal experiences too, please
He's young and his credentials seem good - at 36 he's probably got a steady hand. Posted Image

Pronex Cervical Traction

2012-03-16 16:32:45

Due to cervical disc problems which I won't go into, several years ago I bought direct from Pronex a cervical disc traction see here http://www.dme-direc...l-traction-unit

As my condition has deteriorated over the years, I have now been advised that as it's a delicate area, which might one day need surgery, it's best to stop using it.... so I am.

As I said it's several years old, perfectly functional, good condition and is exactly as on the link above.
I do NOT want any money for it, but I would like to see it go to someone who could at least get the benefit I got and hopefully if someone takes it and doesn't require it any longer, they too will pass it on.

Please pm me if interested and if possible let me see/know a little bit of medical neck history. (Sorry but I do want it to help someone genuine).

I will get back (eventually) to all pm's

Sell By Dates

2012-03-16 09:24:47

I go to the movies frequently, so I go to Airport Plaza. Therefore, I often pick up some things I want in TOPS. On Wednesday I wanted to pick up a jar of Marmite - 379 Baht! I looked at the sell by date and it was February 12....all of them were. I took a jar to the customer service counter and showed the guy and to his credit he came, looked and took the whole batch off the shelf.....well done!
Yesterday, I needed to go to TOT, so popped into TOPS again. Of course I looked at the Marmite section and it was re-stocked, with jars that had a sell by date.......yep you've guessed it.......Feb 12. I went back to customer service, saw the same guy and asked him how they were back on the shelf. I could see he was embarrassed and he said nothing, except rushed to the aisle, swept the whole lot away again and with a thank you disappeared. I'm not really obsessive about sell by dates, but when it comes to an item such as this that I might have open in my fridge for quite a while (and considering the hefty price tag) I think it's a very poor show. However, over many years this is the first 'problem' I personally have had with TOPS and I know that they usually sell off a lot of stuff (even foreign goods) near the SBD cheaply, so I wonder what happened? Maybe they did put 'new' jars up from stock, that have the same SBD? Anyway, keep an eye out on other things.... if you want, of course.
Sorry  to my Aussie pals, never checked the Vegemite. Posted Image

Dentists

2012-03-12 12:05:24

Before anyone says anything, I have looked through the forum to the best of my ability, but the topic's don't actually answer my questions. Lots of recommendations for individual dentists or surgeries, but I'm trying to find out if anyone uses different dentist's (during the same time period)?

For example only; Dr Korakot at Grace for fillings etc, and, Dr Jarunee at Empress for deep cleaning and perhaps someone else for extractions, cosmetic work or even because you fancy Nitrous Oxide.

I'm recalling in particular my experiences at Grace and Empress, where I was perfectly happy with the Dr. I originally selected, but when I needed something else I was moved into another room. At Grace a young fellow who to be honest wasn't much good (and if I'd have seen he just had a BA from CMU, I wouldn't have let him do anything). At Empress good check up and deep cleaning etc, by Dr. Jarunee, but the lady she brought in to do a filling was certainly not up to Dr. Korakot's standard and I wouldn't use her again.

So, basically, does anyone use different dentist's at different places?
What's the reaction from one dentist who cleans or fills, but recommends a filling/clean there and you say, sorry only Dr. X does my fillings/cleaning etc?
What about x-rays, do you have to double up or can you take them with you just like a hospital?

OK I'll leave it there for now, all answers appreciated.

Cheers

White Noise Machines

2012-03-11 19:42:54

My daughter is going to be visiting for a few months. She's a very light sleeper and all the other times she visited, various sounds disturbed her sleep. She accepts This is Thailand, but would like to get a good nights sleep when she can. She's not a moaner and has tried all the usual things to block out as much noise as possible whilst here. I've read that 'White Noise Machines' can be effective, but I have absolutely no idea how effective they are, apart from what I've googled. If they are any good I'll buy one for her.

I wonder if anyone has one or tried one?
Did it work for you?
What model is it?
Did you buy it in Chiang Mai?

If it works I can probably tell her to pick one up in UK and bring it if not available here.
Cost isn't an issue, if it's beneficial.

Cheers
