In Topic: Any Clinic In Bangkok That Charges For Botox By The Unit?

As a quick addendum, I would also take issue with plug of Romrawin.

It's important to understand how a place like this is run.

The doctors are all young, fairly attractive, fair-skinned females, and that's about the extent of their "expertise." Because they didn't go to the finest medical schools, didn't graduate at the top of their classes, and don't have a lot of experience, they don't really have the luxury of working in a traditional practice. Instead, they divide their weeks among three or more of Romrawin's braches. On Monday, Doctor X might be at Romrawin Central Pinklao; on Tuesday, she might be at Romrawin Central Bangna; on Wednesday, she might be all the way out at Romrwawin Future Park Rangsit. When she's not driving--and she's certainly doing a lot of that--Doctor X is struggling desperately to earn enough commission to make ends meet. That's why she can sometimes sound more like a Chatuchak Market huckster than a doctor. "Special price just for you," she'll say. "Today only."

What does all of this mean for the customer? Well, Romrawin sets the price for Botox at 6000 Baht per area. It then debits Doctor X for the amount of botox she uses. In other words, the less Botox she uses, the more money she makes. Little wonder, then, that Doctor Nok is so concerned about not going "too heavy" and wants to inject just a few units. Little wonder, too, that Botox results last 3+ months in the U.S. but often only a few weeks in Thailand.

And yes, I do speak from experience. I've visited Romrawin for botox and for lasering but will not be using their services again.

I fully agree. The same happens in Apex. The more often I go the less is injected. Last time the result lasted a mere couple of weeks. I am also looking for a doctor who charges by the unit but haven't found one so far.

Thanks for the suggestion, Sheryl. As the original poster, I am also not aware of clinics that charge by units. I know of 2 clinics that charge per area. If you want to have botox. injected into the glabella and crows' feet then two areas would be charged: one for 7000 Baht and the additional one for 5000 Baht (at a discounted rate), no matter what amount is injected. I think that is a good deal for the doctor...

I am interested to test out Romrawin. Could you pls. let us know who is the expert injector in Romrawin. Also with botox results depend on the skill of the doctor.

Best,
Shakun

I think you may be running into a communication problem. All the clinics I know of charge by the unit, there is no other feasible way to do it since the bulk of the cost is for the drug itself and people vary enormously in how much they require.

Possibly the 12,000 is in indicative price for an average number of units.

You should have no problem getting and paying for only a few units as long as it's a clinic that does a high volume of botox.

Suggest you try Romrawin.

I was not very impressed by Nepalese restaurants in Kathmandu. Did I miss out on something?

The Chicken Momos of the Bakery Cafe chain are a real treat, mmmhh marvelous...

HollandChampion, I feel for you, it's always so disappointing to pay a lot of money just to find arrogant doctors who don't listen to you.

Can you tell us the name of the doctor so we can avoid him?

As for the dry eyes, you are unfortunately in the worst place for living with such a condition, due to the exaggerated strong air-conditioning everywhere. (unless, of course, you plan to leave in the countryside or something). I often see people with red eyes around and I'm pretty sure it's because of that.

I have mildly dry eyes, it hasn't been a problem at all until I moved to Bangkok and worked 8 hours a day in cold air-con, plus BTS etc. I started having red painful eyes, lots of infections, cannot use my contacts at work or I feel my eyes will explode.

For what is worth I use the Natural Tears by Alcon, gives some relief, tried lots of others but nothing really helped. And try to stay away from air-con places as much as possible. Oh, and the fan blowing in your face is also a killer!

I use this guy... K Somboon, a Thai master tailor

Infini Thaniya Custom Tailors

Room 309 Thaniya Plaza (3rd Floor), Silom Road, Bangrak, Bangkok 10500 Thailand

Tel. (+66) 2231-2118

Get off the Skytrain at Sala Daeng and you are into the building..

Hi Tolsti,
do you know whether he also does ladies' clothes? I am looking desperately for a ladies' tailor, preferably one who serves Thai ladies and is not necessarily geared towards a tourist clientele.
