#5140163 Red Shirts To Mark 2nd Anniversary Of Protests

Posted tlansford on 2012-03-16 22:35:23

wow, ...
"flames of hate"
"redshits"
"ignorance and stupidity", & this gem,
"they suck"...

All in just 3 posts about an article on merit-making ceremonies to commemorate people who died in Thailand's worse political violence in 20 years...

Glad you guys aren't in charge of reconciliation.

I transferred my money GBP the other day and got 50.17 TT to my Bangkok Bank account I have just had a quick check and it is down to 49.97 I think that this must be the first time I managed to do a transfer at the right time to benefit me, if I transfer GBP generally just drops like a stone
http://www.bangkokba...s/FX_Rates.aspx

I did exactly the same and like you the rate usually moves against me after I have dealt, on this occasion we have both experienced the other side of the coin. Makes a pleasant change.

Uk interest rates are as low as they have ever been which is one of the reasons sterling is so low. Rates will rise in the future as the economy hopefully improves which will push the pound upwards. Just when BoE raise rates is anyones guess. Popular opinion suggests towards the end of the year. Markets generally anticipate rate changes so I guess sterling to slowly rise throughout the year.

Nope, Mervin anounced yesterday that rates would remain as is, at least through 2013.

when was Mervyn ever right about anything? think back ,he has been about as much use as a chocolate spoon ,all he ever does is to talk the pound down.

The USD wont be allowed to fail, they have the military night to ensure this.

Pretty silly idea.  Of what use was the military in the 2008 financial crisis?

Love him or hate him millions of Thais adore him. It is their country after all. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion though.

Better still would be to get rid of Article 112 altogether.  It is a pathetically backward law which protects nothing and is only about hate.  Thailand will always be considered as a 3rd-rate, backwater country until this law is gone.

Yes. Alot of foriegners do play around on thier g/f's / wives. However I don't hear of any Thai girls dishing out 60000 baht to pay off a foriegners debt.

My wife and I both worked hard and contributed to paying off a condo we own in Honolulu for the past decade. Each month she took about 20% of the money from she made from her business and I took 20% of my salary and we plopped that amount down on the regular monthly payment. By doing this we paid it off 7 years early and now own it free and clear.

Farangs continually perpetuate Thai girl / Thailand myths from the barstool to the snooker table to the internet.
There are plenty of successful, honest, hardworking Thai ladies out there they make terrific partners. You won't find them at the gogo in Pattaya or over at Soi Cowboy. The bad Thai girl stories are like Thai soap operas - they have entertainment value, but the truth is they do not portray the norm. The stories about farangs that have been happily married to a Thai lady for 10, 20, 30 years do not sell. They do not generate posting frenzies on Thai Visa and other forums. These stories about a great marriage to a Thai woman are boring on the web, but blissful in many a farang's home and life!

To the 'Thai women are all cheaters' crew: you can't buy love - or monogamy. You can't come to a country where sex is even more of a commodity than in your/our first-world countries and expect to buy a committed relationship from someone whose business it is to sell sex/companionship. Is this really not obvious? Edit: I wanted to add that there are plenty of opportunities for relationships with non-bar girls of many nationalities here and everywhere - why not try one!

To the 'I'm OK with this stabbing' crew: Stabbing someone is not an appropriate response to having your heart broken unless you are crazy. If it were, everyone in the world would be stabbed by now.

To the 'monogamy is unnatural' crew: who is forcing you to be monogamous? The person you chose to be in an exclusive relationship with? You can actually live your life as a single, polygamous entity, if you choose.

Some of the comments in this thread defy logic.

A real man should never raise his hand against a woman, for any reason or to any extent.
What if the woman is pointing a loaded gun at him? Some men would raise both hands up in such a situation.

Ha Ha Ha, What is a "real man" Yunla ???  1 meter tall with 10 kids, or 2 meters and sterile ???  Ha Ha
A real man is one who behaves with dignity and decorum, and is above loutish violence against people weaker than himself including women. He has a compassionate soul and is not selfish. He knows to walk away instead of losing his cool. Sometimes when something is over, you should just know it is over and walk away. A real man will walk away and pick up the pieces of his heart and start again, hoping for better luck next time. A common lout will rage and smash things and hit the girl because she doesn't love him any more.

Sorry no Pity for the Girl not saying she deserved to die but when you mess with people emotions it is inevitable that bad things will happen just like guys jumping off condo buildings etc this bar girl was 34 years old and most likely done this many many times over since she is a MRS Jantree too so she has been at this game a while this time it caught up with her.

I have seen too many guys get fleeced out of there life savings to feel sorry for these girls anymore, this one paid for it with her life.

DK

Nice post, nice empathy.

I hope that however old I become, and however many disappointments I have in my life, I NEVER become as bitter and jaded as your post implies you are.

Nobody, NOBODY, deserves to be slain in this manner for chatting with a guy on facebook - get real.

I suppose one should append the work 'allegedly" until the guy is found guilty but he does sound a nut-job (if he did it).

Judging by this photo he's not the sort of person you'd want to chat to in a public place either.

Yep! We can see you're not a westerner - sorry, farang. You are obviously a Thai with understandable pride in all of Thailand's considerable achievements in the field of safety . . .

Seems the Brits are putting a spin on the critical comments of the outgoing ambassador. I think the praise implied for  all those selfless health workers who laboured so hard and so long and averted plagues and epidemics is totally warranted. Well done guys. The phuyais had absolutely nothing to do with it and didn't even commend them for their magnificent efforts. Shame on them! And shame on the TV headline writers - just for once could you get a headlne right? It's not as if this is a newspaper where your  headline is limited by the space available. It's the internet. For krissake get the headlines right, even if they have to be a bit longer.
