Defacto Question

2011-03-04 13:55:20

My very good Australian friend has been living with her Thai partner in Thailand for 5 years now, up to date she has been going to her home country once a year and renewing her None immi visa, however she would like to know if she would qualify for a spouse visa? as they are in a defacto relationship?

Mother Disappeared

2011-01-24 15:07:38

Situation:

Australian man & Thai girlfriend marry in Australia. Down the track they have a child. The child has an Australian passport, but the birth was not registered at the Thai embassy in Australia.

When the child reached 14 months of age the mother leaves and returns to Thailand (on her own).

He raises the child alone for the next 8 months with very little contact from the mother. after 8 months she turns up in Australia for a brief couple of weeks and then disappears again, whereabouts currently unknown.

The father and child are now in Thailand staying with his family. Whereabouts of the mother still unknown.

He was advised by the immigration department to apply for Thai citizenship for the child, however he has been told that he must have the mother along with her housebook and her birth certificate to be able to make application, despite the fact that on the childs  Australian birth certificate it does show that the mother is Thai and was born in Bangkok, this is neither here nor there in Thailand as it is an Australian document and doesn't carry any weight.

Has anyone been through a similar situation, any advice would be appreciated.

Hanoi

2011-01-24 14:55:17

Just a quick question,  my nephew is arriving in Hanoi at the end of February and is going to apply at the Royal Thai embassy in Hanoi for a multiple entry "O" visa to Thailand. ( Yes, he has all the necessary documentation to support this visa).

Has anyone used Hanoi for applying for Visas, he is wondering how much time to allow in Hanoi as he is wanting to book ongoing flights.

Thanks

Thai Embassy

The Royal Thai embassy (Visas) in Perth, Western Australia has closed it's doors.

You now have to apply to the ACT for your visa, forms can be downloaded from the website. The catch is that the whole process can take up to 2 weeks from posting to getting it back.

I am sure many of us will be frustrated by the loss of this office, it used to be such a simple procedure and visas usually available same day or at most within 2 days.
I know many fly in fly out workers that are going to get caught out, hence this posting.

What To Do

2010-08-05 14:53:38

A friend of mine is relocating to Thailand to retire. She currently lives in Perth ( Australia) and wants to bring her Retriever Dog with her. She has tried various avenues to get information and has now asked me to see what I can find out.

I would like to hear from anyone who has imported a dog , i.e. what paperwork does she need, does the dog have to go into quarantine etc, otherwise someone might be able to point me in the right direction for gathering the relavent info. Many thanks.
