If you really analyze it, unless Awakened, no one does anything unless there is something in it for them, even friendship itself.
If you ask the question, "What purpose is a friend?" you will see what I mean.
What is it about others or life which stops you being serene?
In terms of survival, we must all work to sustain ourselves.
To do this interaction with others, generally, can't be avoided.
One way of interacting with others is to observe them with continuous naked awareness without judgment.
With awareness you minimise being drawn in or reacting inappropriately, and observe from a safe position.
Interestingly awareness includes self awareness.
You might end up observing unpleasant attributes in yourself.
Many of us lack self awareness, and don't see in ourselves what others see in us.

"It's funny when you look at my ID card bearing my image with a shaven head and the title Mrs, when I'm a monk! The ID card still goes by 'Mrs so and so'.
The officials at my district office told me they need a computer code to change my title. 'And how do you get the code?' 'You have to go to a particular department to get permission, then permission from the Sangha Council.' And the Sangha said, 'We do not yet accept the female order.'"
I read this article in the newspaper the other day.
Interesting point.
The officials deferred to the Sangha Council for permission to add the title Bikkhuni to the ID Data base.
The ID Officials have two re courses open to them.
1. Refer to the Sangha Council for permission. or.
2. Acknowledge "Bikkhuni" as oe of dozens of titles and add it to the list.
If I was a Colonel does the department ask me to prove it?

The tuner in my 52 inch HDTV Samsung is analogue.
How old is your set?
Is it Plasma or LCD?
With the launch of digital transmission each station decides whether to transmit SD Digital or HD Digital.
Transmitting SD allows a station to transmit a number of channels over the same bandwidth they are allocated.
Some Stations will go for content (More channels) whilst others may decide to go for quality transmission ((less channels).
For Example ABC2 in my town now transmits Channel 2, Channel 21, Channel 22, Channel 23, & Channel 24.
Channel 10 now transmits HD Channel 1 and SD Channels 10, 11, & 12.
Your HD or Full HD set will upscale the transmission to match your screen.
Your TV won't be junk.
You'll just have to buy a STB.
Initially expensive (early models sold for 30,000 baht in Australia - I know - ridiculous).
You can buy STB now which does the full range analogue, SD & HD Digital) for 1,000 baht. These come with their own remote control.
The Sony PS3 Playstation also has a built in STB.

t Set Top Boxes specificaly for receiving the DVB-T2 broadcasts - in the same way as happens in the UK and Australia. These will connect to an external input to the TV set.
During the changeover period, you still have the analogue transmissions for a certain amount of time, and in say a couple of years, when the majority of people have had time to buy the new digital receiver box, or have replaced their TV with one that has the digital receiver inside it, then the analogue transmissions are shut down (the government then can re-allocate those frequencies for other purposes).

You are correct for the most part greer.
The only reason why they have set top boxes is for those who choose to keep their crt tv's and for those who purchased early panel tv's which did not incorporate a tuner.
All new panels in Australia contain a digital and analogue tuner which will automatically tune in all transmissions.
The big question is, will the selected Thai digital transmission bands fall within the capability of of a standard digital inbuilt tuner?

Well, this is why we have the Sangha and kalayanamit. The precepts are worded so that following them will pretty much guarantee we are going in the right direction. Those who are not very advanced on the path or are just not very mature can ask a monk or noble friend for advice about them.
But avijja (delusion/ignorance) is at the root of the human condition. It is "the primary & deepest root of all evil and suffering in the world, veiling man's mental eyes and preventing him from seeing the true nature of things. It is the confusion that fools beings by making life appear to them as permanent, happy, substantial and beautiful and preventing them from seeing that everything in reality is impermanent, liable to suffering, void of 'I' and 'mine', and basically impure. Ignorance is defined as not knowing the Four Noble Truths, namely, suffering, its origin, its cessation, and the way to its ceasing."
So we can never be free of it until we attain arahantship. There's no point in obsessing about how delusion might distort your views because you already know that it will. It's the practice that reveals the specific delusions and the tricks of the ego to you. It's a very gradual process, so if you want all your doubts resolved here and now... good luck with that.
You need to come up with a strategy for dealing with doubts instead of letting them overwhelm you. Ajahn Sumedho said he just watched them arise and fade away, like any other phenomena. He has doubts like the rest of us, but he deals with them by recognizing that they are impermanent. At the end of the day, only you can resolve your doubts - nobody else can do it for you.

You're correct and my focus should be on practice and overcoming negative thought which has been an obstacle to maintaining practice.
I like this reference from a publication which reads:
Once the contemplation of the body is practiced, developed, and often repeated, has become ones habit, ones foundation, is firmly established, strengthened and well perfected .............
