#5329800 Turned Down For A Thai Visa In Vientiane

I would hazard that offering bank books, leases etc only reaffirms to them that you are not infact a tourist?

Please. Yes it's sad they are dead but if you wanted road safety South London style then stay in South London. Stop whinging.

They were not short of a few quid, Air Asia have a great safety record. Use them.

And here lies proof, an uncompassionate ass is in our midst.

What sort of horrible person writes something like this?

I think its a little misleading to say that they had not researched bus travel in Thailand - implying that if they had, they might have found what? That its used by huge numbers of peopleto travel quite safely all over the country every day... yes bus crashes do from time to time happen, but to imply or attempt to characterise it as inherently unsafe to the extent of issuing an official warning, is going too far.
I know people who use busses to travel in the country on a regular basis, and as long as you use a decent bus line (that should be the main concern), then they are perfectly OK, and no worse than bus lines anywhere in the world.
Motorbike travel IS inherently unsafe on the roads in Asia (in my opinion almost anywhere in fact), so a warning about that mode of transport is certainly fair.

Good to see that not all Thai Police will take a bribe, well done. Far too many Africans coming here to get involved in drugs.

Simple curiosity. How this guys can stay in Thailand ? I mean what kind of visa do they most have? How can they enter the country and do what they do here?

I've visited Sukumvit soi 3 and 5 looking for a lebanese restaurant last week and had the impression being in a bad area of Bronx....

Shocked.

So the general consensus of the TV  populace so far is that the gov should really do nothing in terms of extra awareness during the peak travel and accident time and simply get blamed for any deaths because they did nothing-would that satisfy the members here?

In Australia, they banned Guy Fawkes night, (which is a celebration of the first terrorist bomber being caught before he and his men were able to blow up the Houses of Parliament in London) because of repeated incidents of death and injury through kids throwing foreworks.

Why not just ban Songkran. Not the actual holiday, but any kind of water throwing.

AFAIK in Australia "firecracker night" (as we always called it as kids) never had anything to do with Guy Fawkes, that's the UK name for that night.

#5195152 Consular Assistance For UK Nationals In Thailand

Being British can be a bonus sometimes. However our embassies are some of the worst in the world for what they offer ex-pats or people on holiday abroad. They basically do absolutely nothing for you. If your having issues, medical, law e.t.c. it pays to be a U.S. Aussie, citizen or almost any other nationality!

#5176508 Thai Govt Called For Moving 2 Million People From Mountain Zones

Forestry is a lot like the burning in the north (and sometimes the same).  They've been trying to stop people from burning for years, despite knowing where it is happening and this year was one of the worst yet.  I'd say things are not getting any better.  I hate to see how the local farmer doesn't plan for the future or how to protect the land for his children but, Thai culture is a big ship to turn.  They don't look any further than today.  Floods?  What floods...it's dry!

Please be aware that you will be charged for this call.

Scary numbers in the charges Posted Image

Isn't it crazy that you have to call a private company in the UK, at premium rates, to find out what a government department is doing in Hong Kong?

The sooner Hong Kong is removed from this passport application process the better in my view, the government is all about cutting costs, so lets start here.

WOW! Africans in Bangkok selling drugs?

Surely they can't be talking about the same African guys who openly ask people walking by if they want to buy drugs.
