OK--apologies if this has been asked before [ I feel certain it will have been but have not input correct search criteria to get any findings--so, apologies]--is there a work-around for the need to go through the minor hassle of getting a Re-Entry permit prior to making a very short shopping trip to Tachilek on the Burmese side of Mae Sai--I seem to remember getting a paper document issued on the spot by Thai Immigration at Mae Sai which allowed me to cross to the Burmese side without the need for passport/Re-Entry paperwork; am I misleading myself or does this practice still take place???
Many thanks for any info/help. Incidentally I will not be there for any visa update requirements--purely to go to buy some stuff on the other side.

Open Dns With True Vision Cable Broadband?
2012-02-20 13:01:36
Hello,
having opened up my Thomson Wireless Router, supplied free by True Vision when I signed up for their 9 MB broadband package--I cannot find any DNS settings--in fact DNS is not enabled--is this just a case of getting the settings correct??
This may seem like a dumb question to the computer literate but I am far from that.

Siam City Bank To Thanachart Bank Chaneover

HELP needed----
I am, at present, not in the Kingdom and read, with no little concern, that SCIB has been bought up, lock, stock, etc.., by Thanachart Bank--ok, so far, yawn, yawn,--but, I was possibly foolish to leave a sum invested in a High Interest Fixed Term account with SCIB, prior to my departure from Thailand--the fixed term has now finished and the lump sum will, theoretically, have been moved bank into my long standing current/savings account with SCIB--OK, so far so good, but now, with the recent purchase by another Thai bank--what should be the outcome?? Will I return in January 2012, just in time to renew my Retirement visa and find that I am the proud owner of a brand new account with Thanachart bank, and God willing, find all the funds happily sitting in my newly created account--or should I panic and catch an early flight and go chase up my money??
Any sensible or pertinent answers out there???

Large Black Ants--In The House
2011-03-27 07:26:01
Over the last couple of weeks gradually more and more very large black ans--larger than the big 'Mot Daeng' -- up to 1 cm. in length--have started to appear wandering around the house, it's obvious that they have established a nest somewhere but just where is very hard to tell--my best guess is behind/underneath the farang-style wooden sink unit.
I have applied several types of ant-poisons in the vicinity but this doesn't appear to be getting to the root of the problem--i.e. not getting carried back to the nest as is supposed to happen.
What are these little beasts--do they, as my cleaning lady says, indeed eat wood?? And, presumably, the only solution is to dis-assemble the kitchen units and find their nest--any ideas as to who would be capable of dealing with this job--satisfactorily, that is?
Any recommendations for bug control companies--that do what they're supposed to do?

Wikileaks Site--Blocked, Or Not?
2010-12-06 07:54:24
Up until today I have had no problem accessing the Wikileaks site--not so today; anyone else find this to be the case? If so, is this Thai censorship, U.S. Government or Chinese Gov. attacks or what?? Or is it my permanently jittery connection?
