An Extra Gallon Of Gas For My Klx Thanks To Ims

3 gallon IMS tank on KLX!

Decided the stock 2 gallon (7.7 liter) stock tank on the KLX just isn't going to cut it for touring so ordered a 3 gallon (11.3 liter) IMS tank from http://www.justgastanks.com/

Pretty quick shipping but they ignored my request to declare cost price on the customs form so I got charged quite a bit of duty. Oh well, win some, lose some.

Swapping tanks is super easy-

Forgive the filthy bike Posted Image

Stock tank is tiny- only holds 7.7 liters of fuel.

Stock next to IMS. Cool thing is the plastic 3 gallon IMS doesn't weigh any more than the 2 gallon metal stock tank.

Another view.

Installation is a breeze- the IMS fits perfectly and does not interfere with the carb or choke. One little hiccup- the IMS tank uses the fuel fittings from the stock tank, but it's made for the carb'd bike which has a different fuel tank, so I had to scrounge around Red Baron's used parts warehouse where I was lucky enough to find the tank fittings I needed.

Will have to get out and run the bike dry to see what kind of range I'll enjoy with the bigger tank.

What'S Your Preferred Air Filter Oil In Thailand?

2012-05-17 18:17:48

Hey guys, been years since I've serviced a dirtbike. When I was a kid we used to wash our dirtbike and atv air filters in gasoline, then wash again with water and detergent, let dry and then oil with regular motor oil.

Just serviced my KLX and happy to see that while the outside of the air filter was filthy, the inside still looks brand new.

I've washed it in gasoline followed by soapy water and am wondering what you all recommend for filter oil.

Back home there are tons of inexpensive filter oils to choose from, but here in Thailand there aren't so many choices and most are expensive imported oils.

I'm wondering if using regular motor oil like I used to do as a kid will be adequate or if I should go buy some dedicated air filter oil.

What are your thoughts and opinions on this?

Happy Trails!

Best 3G/4G Provider In Thailand? Dtac? Ais? Other?

2012-04-30 11:21:00

I've been using DTAC with my iPhone 4 and have been pretty happy with the 3G speed and coverage in and around Bangkok and have noticed that their 3G network is growing quickly though lately the connection speeds have been rather unstable.

My gf uses AIS for her iPhone and while initially AIS lagged far behind DTAC in terms of coverage and speed it seems they are catching up and the connection generally seems more stable than DTAC lately.

Now I'm looking to buy a new iPad and need to decide which company to use for 4G data coverage in Thailand.

Would be grateful for any recommendations / reviews.
