Occasional Dry Eye.

I have used the search facility and not found anything relevant to my condition, which is that I very occasionally get sore eyes, which at my age I presume is dry eye.
Has anyone else got this condition, and what do you do for it?

Thanks for any help.

Any Hamster Experts Out There?

One of my hamsters was found to be not well this morning, looked scruffy with matted fur and very lethargic. Died a few hours later.

My question is whether hamsters regularly suffer from comunicable diseases, as I am concerned for the other ones now, though they don't seem to be affected so far.
It is the first one that I have had to be affected in this way.

Thanks for any info.

The Ants And The Scorpion.

2012-05-26 17:26:35

For a start, not all dangerous animals will "run away" given the chance. Couple nights ago, I stepped outside to lock the gate and a large ( about half the length of my hand ) black scorpion advanced on me from about 3 meters away. Needless to say, with a broom handy, it is no longer "advancing" anywhere.

However, to the point of the tale, last evening I saw that the red ants that live in the tree outside the wall had discovered it, and were in the process of carrying the entire, whole scorpion up the steel fence to their nest. To say that it was amazing that they could do that was an understatement! I'd have thought that they'd have had to dismember it first, before carrying it off, but they were united to lift it complete. Whenever they came to an obstruction, they had to take a few attempts to manouver it, but the last I saw as it got dark, was that they had got it onto the tree branch and had reversed it so the tail was first, and were making a rate of about a cm a minute. They had lifted it about a meter, and had a good meter and a half to go to the nest when I went in. There must have been at least a hundred ants involved, all knowing exactly what to do.
Genetics are amazing!

Note to self: don't poke around under things outside with my bare hands!

My Concrete Path Has A Problem

2012-05-22 19:10:47

Hi,
I made a concrete path the other day, and the surface has lots of tiny holes in it. Where have I gone wrong?

I used a mix of three parts sand to 1 part cement 1 part stones, and it smoothed out quite nicely at the time.

I think it's strong enough, but it looks a bit unsightly.

Thanks in advance.

Pound Hits 50, How Long Will The Trend Last?

2012-05-15 17:24:01

One for the financial experts.

I have a load of Sterling that I've been waiting to change while the rate has been so low.

Any thoughts on whether the trend will continue or fall again? I'd hate to change now and the rate keep going up.

I know it's guesswork at best, but would appreciate any advice from those that should know more about it than I.

Thanks.
