Register Car In My Name
2011-05-22 00:38:00
Hi, Do I need a letter from immigration, to confirm my address, in order to buy a car here, and have it registered in my name? I live here and have a Thai driving licence (1 year), and am thinking about buying a car, but would much prefer to have it in my name , not my wife's ( who is thai). thanks for any info / advice.
Samsung St65
2011-05-07 16:57:07
I've been considering buying a video camera, but according to the reviews I've read, all the ones available locally (Phetchabun province), have various drawbacks, the most common of which is short battery life between recharges. The local shop has just got in a 14MP samsung camera, the ST65 which claims to be able to do HD movies. Anyone got one, are they any good, and most important will th HD movie show full screen on our 42 inch LCD TV? This camera uses SD cards to record, how long is an hours HD movie in Gb?
Thanks for any help / advice, like most older folks, all this new technology is so hard to keep up with! We did ask at the shop, but they didn't seem to know an awful lot about what they were selling.

Retirement Renewal -90 Day Optimum Date
2011-04-20 05:05:16
Hi Can you please confirm that I've worked this out right?
My 90 day report renewal is due on 24th April. My retirement stamp renewal is due on 27th May. If I go to my local immigration office on 29th April, I will be within the law for the 90 day report (7 days before or after), and I will be able to renew my retirement stamp as it will be 28 days before the old one expires, and it is again within the law to apply early, I need to book a car to drive us there, so I need to check my assumptions are correct. Also I usually get a multiple entry re-entry visa, at the same time as I renew my retirement stamp, but as I have no plans to leave Thailand over the next few years, would I be better getting the single entry re-entry visa, which is a lot cheaper?
Thanks for your help in this matter.

Overstay Fine Limits?
2011-01-13 19:12:23
Hi, I've just heard on the village grapevine that there is a chap in a nearby village who wants to go back home, to Korea, I believe. Apparently he has been in Thailand 20 years or so, without a visa !! From what I understand he has been told by his Embassy that once he renews his passport (which has expired long ago), that he will be OK to fly home. From the little I know he will be liable to a massive fine, and possibly jail time. Can you please tell me the maximum fine for overstaying, and the possibility of his being jailed? Also will his wife (who is Thai) be in trouble for not reporting his overstay, as it has been so long.
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.
