Good Deal From Scb?
2011-09-01 16:53:39
I've just been down to my local SCB branch to withdraw my monthly expenses and to transfer a lump sum from my savings account to my fixed deposit account (3 months). They told me that they have a promotion on at the moment on fixed deposit accounts and that they are offering 7% on a fixed deposit of 11 months. Couldn't resist that offer so I transferred the lump sum into an 11 month fixed deposit account.
Colostomy Bag Wearers
2011-03-18 18:36:03
Having been diagnosed with rectal cancer just over 5 year's ago, I had surgery to remove the tumour at Siriraj and I have been wearing a colostomy bag ever since. I prefer the 1 piece pouch against the 2 piece and up until 2008 had been using Coloplast's 'mc2000' . I found that the adhesive was often difficult to remove when changing bags and was not very kind to my skin causing it to be red raw.
However, I returned to the UK back in 2008 for a visit and whilst there I saw a stoma nurse who informed me that there were much better bags available to the 'mc2000' I'd been using which she said were obsolete in the UK. I have since been using Coloplast's "Sensura" which are far superior but I have to get them sent over from the UK as they are unavailable here in Thailand.
I have recently been back in Siriraj for another operation to remove a cancerous lump from my groin and whilst there I got my wife to take a list of Colostomy bag Companies to the Stoma nurse there. Dansac, Hollister, Convatec etc. It was a case of "Mai Me" to them all. The only 1 piece pouch they seem to have in Thailand is the Coloplast mc2000 (considered obsolete in the UK).
Why is Thailand so poorly served by the producers of Ostomy products? It can't be that there aren't people like myself with a stoma here in Thailand.

New Interpretation On 90 Day Reporting By Immigration Officer?
2010-12-30 16:37:18
I have just returned home after obtaining the rest of my one year extension based on marriage at my local Immi. office (Kanchanaburi).
Whilst there, the officer asked me when my next 90 day reporting date was. I told her that it was 12th January. She said that I could do it now if I had the form with me. I said that I thought the rules were up to 7 days before and/or up to 7 days after. She informed me that I could report up to 15 days before but not any days after the date. I did not argue the case and filled out my TM 47 there and then.
This might be of significance to those that deal with the Kanchanaburi office.
Looks like yet another interpretation of the rules by an upcountry office or perhaps an individual officer.

Application Of Stay Still Under Consideration. Come Back On 2Nd January
2010-12-17 17:02:25
Have just returned from my local Immigration office (Kanchanaburi).
I went to collect the remainder of my one year extension based on marriage but it hadn't come through yet from Bangkok. They have been pretty good for the last few years and permission to stay has usually been granted within the first 30 days from the application and not like the old days where one could wait several months for the approval.
They have given me a further 16 days and I have to report back on the 2nd January. They then pointed out to me that they wouldn't be open on that day as it is a national holiday and to return on the 4th Jan instead. Why couldn't they have altered the date stamp to the 4th??
It's always mystified me as to why they can't check on the calendar and stamp a date in one's passport when they will be open especially on this occasion when they already knew that they would be closed on the 2nd Jan.
I suppose it's one of life's little mysteries.
