Just came across this.
http://www.mebytmb.com/whatisme.html
I asked in my local branch what all this is about, as the webtranslated Thai is a little difficult to comprehend.
Its an internet based bank account, no ATM or passbook.
Pays 3.5% interest on the balance, which got me interested.
Can't open it through provincial banks, was told have to send documents directly to Bangkok, but the website states you have to visit BKK.
https://secure.mebyt...pen-account.jsp
Transfers in are easy from another bank account.
Transfers out are through the internet.
No idea if its acceptable for visa purposes, maybe a little too advanced for immigration?
If I was in BKK I would probably open an account to see how it works and park some spare cash. Out here its just too much hassle to get through the hoops.

I'm contemplating purchasing an item from a private person advertising on the internet. The sum involved is around 35,000 Baht so its not going to be a big issue if it goes awry, but I'd like more protection than simply transferring the cash to a bank account.
Has anybody used the Thai Post Cash on Delivery service?
I can't find out from their website how much they charge.
If the item does not match the description can I refuse delivery?
I'll go to the local post office and check them out, but I'd like a bit of "user feedback" too.....

And yet Thailand has developed such successful electronics and auto industries that it now produces from 35 to 40 percent of all computer hard disk drives and, in 2010, built more light trucks than Japan.
In agriculture, besides being the world’s biggest rice exporter, Thailand ranks No. 1 in rubber and No. 2 in sugar. The country that brands itself the Land of Smiles has consistently remained one of the world’s top 20 tourism destinations, attracting more visitors in 2010 than Greece.
Thiraphong’s Bangkok-based company, which owns the Chicken of the Sea brand in the U.S. and John West in Europe, is the world’s No. 1 producer of canned tuna.
In the fourth quarter of 2011, despite the floods, the SET Index jumped 12 percent to become the world’s fourth-best performer. It has risen a further 11 percent this year as of Feb 22.
In 2010, Thailand was by far the biggest rice exporter, shipping 9 million tons. During the same period, its nearest rival, Vietnam, shipped 6.7 million tons.

Debentures
2011-12-19 15:40:02
Early this morning I was at my branch of the BKK bank to buy a bunch of these debentures.
http://www.bangkokba...es/easybuy.aspx
Waste of time, as there were none to be had. Somehow all 1,500,000,000 Baht's worth had been sold, possibly even before the branches had opened.
This also happened to me with other debentures being sold by the SCB.
I am beginning to wonder if there is some sort of scam here, are the big boys and associates on some privileged path, leaving the rest of us with no chance? Has anybody managed to buy these or other new issue debentures?

3Bb Vip
2011-12-02 23:29:30
Today the postman delivered a letter.
I am now the very proud owner of a Black 3BB VIP card. This is definitely the best thing that has happened to me today it looks so COOOOOL.
But unfortunately they neglected to communicate with me in a language that I can read all the doubtless countless advantages and new possibilities that I have gained. I am so excited by all this VIP 3BB treatment.
But what does it mean?
Can anybody help?
