Four middle east combat tours, one of which involved a vehicle roll over where the guy sustained what was considered a serious head injury. He will get a break on the post traumatic stress angle alone. Not saying it is right, simply a strong possibility.
This kind of stuff is a bi-product of the demonization of any enemy compounded by stress and unbearable tours where there are no emotional outlets for the troops whatsoever.. A very unfortunate outcome indeed but quite predictable.

There is a certain aspect of the darkest of humour choosing a funeral as a venue to dispatch more victims to their maker, though I doubt this will receive 1% of the attention or condemnation that the U.S soldier caused by his killing spree, it's all down to who is doing the killing and who is being killed.

For me there are several positive reasons for living here; Thai Massage, food, great people, Buddhism, lack of violence/confrontation, to name but a few.
Let's see:
Thai massage - mostly not professional, can do some harm.
Food - good indeed. But also lots of junkfood and bad hygiene.
Great people - much nicer people in almost all SE Asian contries.
Buddhism - don't care.
Lack of violence - you are joking, no?
But you forgot one point:
The Thai government doesn't confiscate half of my income to give it to lazy local and migrant population.
No socialism and no PC. This makes life much better.

The Middle East has become a pain in the World’s side, it`s taken over from Russia during the cold war.
As for security, one realistic way to make things tougher for the terrorists, is to vet everyone of Middle Eastern appearance at the destination countries prior to giving them consent to leave. Of course this would never happen, as the good citizens of the world will say this is unethical, so in the meantime we have to put up with being at the mercy of these fanatical maniacs.
The most frightening aspect is that some of these Arab countries are quickly developing their own nuclear weapons. The world’s most devastating weapons in the hands of madmen.
The only other solution is to bomb these countries into obliteration and keep them restrained, as we did with the Germany and Japan after World War Two.
Personally, I cannot see any other options for stopping these terrorist attacks.

The nation is MYANMAR. Why do you insist on calling the country Burma?!
I still call it Burma for the same reason that I refer to Tibet as Tibet rather than the Chinese imposed name of the Tibetan Autonomous Region. Neither Myanmar or the Tibetan Autonomous Region were names chosen by the people of those places but were names imposed by either an unelected dictatorial military regime or an agressive communist government that falsely claimed sovereignty over an existing country.
