#3929043 Hotels In Bangkok Refuse Blacks And Indians

I fail to see how this is a problem.

Many bars do not let them in either, because we don't want to drink with them.

I said to a bargirl once, 'Why do you keep the blacks out?' and she said 'Because if Farang see African man, he not come in'.
I said 'Yep, you're right'.

All they do is try and sell me cocaine, and try to 'look after me' on Sukhumvit. It gets quite tiring.

Thailand IS a racist country.  I have experienced being refused entry into bars and also been denied being able to rent an apartment because I'm Black.  I've found that showing my US passport usually helps me get into bars as it seems most bars "will" let me in "if" I show them that I'm from America.  None of that really bothers me much as I feel comfortable knowing that these businesses aren't getting my hard-earned money.  What bothers me more are the racist Farang here.  The Farang are far more racist than any Thai could be.   I use to find that very surprising that White folks would travel to a country where the natives aren't White and be racist.

It's so bad that I can actually guarantee you that I'll have a serious problem with some idiot racist Farang any night I choose to go out.  If I don't immediately have a problem all I have to do is try another establishment or bar.  If I mingle with enough Farang and it's guaranteed.  It's nothing to do with my behavior as I'm one of the most reserved acting and self-controlled individuals you'll meet.  I recently went on holiday to Nong Khai and met several interesting Farang who wanted me to hang out and hit the bars with them.  I explained my reservation as I have so many problems with Farang in this country.  They told me not to worry as I'd be with them, but they also added that they thought I was just being paranoid as it couldn't be that bad.  I explained that they'd soon see as a problem was guaranteed to happen if we went to enough places.  Sure enough, a few hours later we are in a bar with a guy across the room yelling at me that "Niggers should die!" etc, etc, etc.  He went on for awhile.  Wasn't anything I had done and it never is as I know how to act appropriately and in this case I hadn't even spoken to this guy as he was on the other side of the room.  My new friends all apologized to me and had to admit that they just didn't know it was that bad here.  Good morning, it is!

I'm sure there are worse countries than Thailand, and there are a handful of countries I'd never want to visit, but Thai's are racist.  Thais are probably more racist amongst themselves though as many of you certainly understand what I'm talking about, and I won't go into explaining that as I have less issues with the Thais and more with the Farang here as their racism is much more blatant and hateful.  With Thais its usually just a case of them cowardly saying something rude in Thai or "not" getting my hard earned money which just leaves me with more money at the end of the day, but with the Farang it's usually aggressively confrontational. It'd be nice to be able to go out and relax or have fun without fear of getting into a fight.

I once saw 2 farangs having a real go at a young Thai girl.........there was an elderly gentleman sat looking as though he was involved but on the sidelines........I popped over and asked why they were being so aggressive to the young girl........they very quickly explained that the girl had taken £8000 from their father.......the poor girl looked really shaken at their aggressive behaviour........I asked the old guy if the girl had taken the money from him or he had given it to her.......he told me he gave it, she did not take it........so I told the guys their problem was with their father for giving away their inheritance not with the girl for accepting a gift

Fortunately they had no choice to agree and calm down.....:)

Yeah right, of course you did.

Wanna get involved in my family problems ?
You mean you take your family to Pattaya?

Or did you meet them there?

#3909340 Which Class Was The Family You Grew Up With?

Posted Jingthing on 2010-09-26 14:59:29

Well success and wealth are not always the same things. Most of the wealthiest Americans I have known were born into upper class families with secure trust funds with no actual economic need to ever pursue a profession, though most did, and they all had a big leg up in doing so over people from more modest backgrounds. For example, guaranteed admission to Harvard, etc. based on family connections, not merit ...

What l do find amazing is that in farang land an ageing rock or film star, or even an ageing female film star can marry a youngster and nothing is said, nothing, When the obvious attraction is the wealth, and on death or divorce get set up for life. Is there any love between these people, don't think so, so tell me the difference
. All you who say it's wrong, hypocrites, take a look at Rod St or Mel Gib, the Stones, thousands out there. Think about it.

What is the difference ? :)
The difference my friend is that Rod and Mel marry beautiful young women, whereas most farang men marry ugly Isarn women. Anyone who has lived in Isarn for a while knows this. I was speaking to an elderly Ozzie bloke the other night who has come over to get a wife - I was bloody amazed - he is about 75 with plenty of cash and she is about 35 and not just ugly but obviously from the lowest rung of Isarn society. These old guys are clueless.

How many old guys, WHO HAVE LIVED HER FOR 10 YEARS say marry an ugly Isarn woman?

How many old gys who married a woman when they first got here are still happily married 10 years later and still think their wife is beautiful and remain faithfull?

They make a mistake! Accept it and find a new one.

There are many beautiful Isarn women.

I met my wife( not typical Isarn woman) in Italy where I was for a photo shot when I was modelling and my wife was travelling. I'm lucky because if I had come to Roi Et for a photo shoot I could easily have been one of the conned ones. My wife is 2 years younger than me.

I have compasion for the general old guys but they are embarrassing. I was in a posh restaurant last week in Bangkok when a old coger came in waiing the staff with a woman who looked like a maid from a Thai soap.
It was horrible watching the clueless idiot.

Another thing -  when we are abroad we sometimes get some nasty looks as the general Ozzie hasn't a clue between the tuk tuk driver's daughter and the King of Laos's great- granddaughter.

I don't even know where to begin.

FIrst of all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Second, beauty is not the only reason to marry, even the prime reason.  To be happy with your spouse should be the prime reason, and whatever makes you happy should be the guiding precepts for finding a spouse.  If beauty is the important thing, then what. we should all divorce our spouses when they get older and are not beautiful?  I rather think that would be the very definition of the word "shallow."

And so what if an old "codger" comes into the restaurant with a younger woman.  Why does that embarrass you?  Why should you even care?  Maybe she is his wife.  Maybe she is his mia noi.  Maybe she is his daughter.  Maybe she is his health care provider.  Maybe she is his maid.  The point is that you don't know, and to be frank, it is none of your business.

And is it really that important that the general Australian have a "clue between a tuk-tuk driver's daughter and the King of Laos's (sic) great-grandaughter?"  First, is it important?  And second, are you implying that the tuk-tuk driver's daughter is inferior to the other?  That it would be beneath you to marry a tuk-tuk driver's daughter?

Seems like a good call by the State Dept to replace John.  It was thoroughly inappropriate for him to set up a meeting for Dep Sec of State Kurt Campbell with red shirt leaders when the latter were in open insurrection against the state and clearly sheltering armed terrorists.  It was strongly rumoured that the meeting came about as a result of intense local lobbying emanating from Khunying Potjaman.  I was also surprised at Campbell's lack of judgment in allowing himself to be set up like that.
I pretty much agree. Obama seems to be paying attention and doing his homework, or is it Hillary Clinton?
Most likely Hillary (and maybe even Bill) had input about this as Hillary is Secretary of State.

I've just finished my third coffee.  I drink about 6 a day, but never after 9 pm.

I love coffee and can't remember the last time I had a cup of tea.

I tried the one a day coffee.  Had a really strong one in the morning but found around 4pm I was actually craving it.  So gave up on that malarky!!
Yeah I understand completely as I used to be that way. If you ever want to cut down, you could try what I do, green tea later in the day. It also has caffeine so you might not withdrawal much, and it's supposed to be really good for health.

If you get caffeine withdrawal headaches if you miss your coffee, you are physically addicted to caffeine. I do also and currently limit myself to one large strong cup of coffee in the morning and green tea later in the day. Being physically addicted to coffee in this way is not a health problem for most people. In the past I have abused coffee, 10 plus cups a day, day and night, and experienced extreme symptoms of caffeine overdose. That is abuse.

#3909371 Visiting Other Members Profiles

Posted Jingthing on 2010-09-26 15:08:30

I visit to check out the design elements on the profiles. As far as checking out friends, I never do that, as I am very promiscuous. I welcome everybody, actual friendly members and of course my specialty, IRONIC friends. It's absurd to take the virtual social functions of this board seriously ...

Of course I also visit MY OWN profile quite a lot. Is that counted by the counter? It's fun to see how many red marks I have been awarded recently, and sometimes I take the opportunity to thank the gift givers with 5 stars, instantly offering a real or ironic friendship, etc.

The USA deficit issues are way overstated mainly by the blowhard teabagger movement, which doesn't have any serious economists behind it. It is quite easily solvable with more reasonable taxation of the American rich. A teabagger political victory will be an economic disaster, causing a massive crash in the US stock market, which has actually done quite well under Obamanomics.

"US deficit overstated". Can you justify that statement? I"m a Labour supporter (democrat in US) but taxing the rich won't work as there is not enough of them to provide reasonable support. I suppose it's just about austerity measures versus 'spend your way out' and at this pointit appears  US took the wrong gamble.

Yes, let Warren Buffet, second richest man in the world do that.

Buffett tells Dems rich need to pay more
By Alexander Bolton - 09/10/09 05:40 PM ET

Warren Buffett, the renowned investor and the world’s second richest man, told Senate Democrats that wealthy Americans need to pay higher taxes, giving Democrats something to mull as they address healthcare reform and soaring federal deficits.

Senate Democrats met with Buffett for more than an hour over lunch Thursday, peppering him with questions about the economy, said lawmakers in attendance.

“He said rich people are not paying enough taxes,” said Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.). “It was interesting to see someone who is such an aggressive capitalist, who believes so much in our capitalist system, saying we’ve got the scales way too heavily toward people who are very, very wealthy.”

Buffett told lawmakers that because of the cuts to the capital gains tax passed under former President George W. Bush, he pays taxes at a lower rate than some of his company’s employees.

#3905126 Anyone Notice The Stop Lights They Are Putting Down Beach Road?

Posted eyebee on 2010-09-24 18:04:07

What people don't seem to understand is that these lights will be controlled by pedestrians. The lights will remain green until a pedestrian pushes a button, the pedestrian walks when he/she gets the signal to cross, then the traffic lights turn green again. The system seems to work quite well in London, New York and other large cities.

But, and this is a big but, the number of lights they are putting up on 2nd Road and Beach Road seem to be overkill - there are far too many of them. Probably vested interests again. I can imagine the conversation in City Hall: "Put one up next to my brother's shop, so people can get to it easily", or "I need one in front of my hotel". In other countries they are mostly at road junctions, or outside schools (which is where they should be). I reckon the ones we have here will either cause massive jams, or will be totally ignored by the local drivers (both Thai and farang), and pedestrians will still have to run for their lives...
