With our new windows in the television room, the a/c in that room now can keep up pretty well with the April heat. Now I'm trying to figure out what to do in the dining and kitchen areas (we have a/c in the bedrooms). With the new windows in the tv room the other rooms are warmer, correction hotter. My wife is roasting in them. I guess those rooms were cooled by the air leakage through the old jalousie style crank out windows on the tv room wall. My wife says we should buy a mobile unit and just roll it where we need it. I doubt it is that easy a solution.
I'm considering buying one of those units Big C sells which is a standalone a/c on wheels. The air coming from those doesn't seem very chilly to me at Big C, I am wondering if they are worth a crap. Having no large condenser like the wall mounted units makes me question their effectiveness. I don't want to blow 6-10K on something which would prove to be useless. Sure wish there was a Sears-type store (like in the US) where we could return the sucker if we weren't satisfied.
Thanks

By Any Chance: Is Ford'S Family & Friends Discount Honored In Thailand?
2012-04-29 22:13:15
I doubt it - but it is worth asking. A friend of mine in the states said he would be glad to help me qualify for this (substantial) discount program if it is in effect here.
This new Focus is one heck of a car. Even parks itself. Great technology. I think it won't be available here until 4th Qtr or so from what I've read. Check out the Ford.co.th website.

Anybody Know How I Can Get Some Doi Chaang Coffee Beans Sent To Me?
2012-04-23 20:58:15
Hi all,
I ran out of my Doi Chaang whole coffee beans which I grind for use in my french press. They come in silver plastic bags, two sizes I am aware of. I bought a big bag in Chanthaburi but won't be back there for a few weeks to get another. Buying online would be fine, or doing a bank transfer to a shop willing to send by post to me.
Doi Chaang coffee I understand is community grown, shipped to Canada for roasting, then shipped both back here and worldwide. It is great.
Thanks.

With Toyota'S New Smart G-Book - Should I Finally Buy A Smart Phone?
2012-04-14 12:28:44
I'm wondering if I should finally break down and buy a smart phone of some sort (iPhone, Android, etc). The new Altis we are taking delivery of next week comes with a pretty cool 800x400 resolution touch-screen DVD. Also, Toyota is promoting their relatively new Smart G-Book capability (similar to GM's On-Star I think).
I already have a Garmin 3750 and was planning to buy the ESRI Thailand map soon, but now I am thinking maybe it makes sense to go the smart phone/G-Book route and get navigation directly on my DVD player from G-Book. It could be about the only time I would use a iPhone (or whatever) though because I have no need for a phone at all much less a smart one.
Any thoughts?

Toyota (Altis) 1.6L Versus The 2.0L - Is Fuel Economy Majorly Worse?
2012-03-25 12:05:00
The 2008 Altis we have is a 1.6G. I just placed a deposit on a new 2.0G. For highway driving we were getting 15-17 km/l, but I just read a review saying not to expect more than 10-12 km/l in the 2.0.
Any experience?
