Planning A Head (2Nd Uk Settlement Visa)

2012-05-07 18:23:03

My Wife is here on a UK Settlement Visa which expires in Jan 2014.
just a few questions to ask.
1. My wife is intending to stay in the UK for a further 27 months after Jan 2014 all going well, which will coincide with my planned retirement at a young age of 55, So the first question is, can my wife apply for another settlement Visa and can this be done without having the Life in the UK Test?

2. I understand that you can only apply for naturalisation after 5 years, so is that 2 X settlement visa or do you apply for

permission to remain in the UK. Guess there will be a form for that.

3  Even though we intend to retire over in Thailand, Would it be a benefit to my wife to

apply for naturalisation when the time comes, But i guess she would have to spend so much time in the UK every year and also may effect myself living in Thailand

4. Regarding time in the UK, i understand that my wife must be in the UK for 24 months out of 27 Months, Is this a requirement if we are applying for the 2nd Visa? (this has limited the number of holidays abroad for us ;-(

i know that its a long time away, But i have been thinking about the future and whats the best way to go about everything and our restrictions regarding time out of the UK and also the Life in the UK test and retirement for myself

Jet Ski Scam And Then Young Boy Found Dead

2012-04-26 18:05:02

I was down by the boathouse Hotel in Jomiten at 4pm on Thursday 26th and noticed a couple of Russians been scammed by the jet ski operators asking for 20,000 Baht, i carried on walking and then on my way back 30 minutes later, i noticed a crowd of people on the beach standing in the same area that the Russians was standing and the emergency vans in attendance, i thought it was one of the Russians that maybe been attacked, but found out that a young boy had been found dead either in the sea on on the beach, RIP to the young Boy.

Change Of Name On Passport To Married Name (Uk/ Thai)

2012-04-01 17:53:37

Hi all
My wife is in the UK on a Settlement Visa and we are going back to Thailand to change my wife's Passport and to have her name changed to her Married name.

My Biggest issue, Her return airline ticket is in her maiden name and on her return the Passport will be in her Married Name. Will this create a Issue. I understand that going through passport control, she must show her old passport which will include her settlement Visa for the UK.

Should i inform the airline prior to travel or will showing her old passport and marriage certificate and translation be OK.

Best regards

Thai Wife Applying For A New Thai Passport

2012-01-24 18:59:34

Hi
We are heading to Thailand in April for a period of 14 days, These days will be during the New year holiday period where Government offices will be Closed.

My wife is planning on getting her passport changed into My surname and are worried that we may not have the time to get the new passport back.

We are planning on applying for her new Passport ubon Ratchathani while visiting her Parents, would 5 days be enough to get the new passport back? and would it be quicker or take longer if we applied in Bangkok?

Regarding her Spouse Visa, I take it that she just shows her old Cancelled passport showing the Visa and that she will not have any issues going through Passport control.

Any help would be Great.

Setting Up A UK Bank Account For My Wife

2011-12-30 18:35:38

Hi all
I know this is not Visa related, But hope someone can help me.
I have been trying to set my wife up with her own Bank account or joint account.

since my wife's passport is in her maiden name, we are finding it very difficult to do anything regarding setting up either a joint account or her own account.

My own bank has turned her down with Both Her own account and i cant add her for a Joint account.
I have a Nationwide account, But i am still lacking information that would satisfies them, but they did say that a P45 would be Ok for Proof on who my wife is.

On that, I phoned the tax office up and she cant get a P45 until she gets a Job and many places wont give a job unless you have a bank account.

any advice please.

(the tax office said that she can open a Post office account, So that maybe Ok to look at)
