Where To Sell Used Books
2011-05-30 13:49:45
I am looking for a place to sell around 50 used books, both English and German. I have already been to the book shop in Phang Nga road in Phuket town, but they are not purchasing any books, apparently they have more than enough. I also checked out the one at the traffic light, on the way to the Zoo, but they only give you 40 Baht per book.
Does anyone know any other shop that is currently purchasing any used books and paying a reasonable price.

Thinking Of Moving To Chiang Mai
2010-07-29 16:13:07
After almost 6 years in Phuket, me and also my wife, Thai from Nakhorn Sri Thammarat, who has been in Phuket about the same time as me, both are thinking of moving to Chiang Mai.
Phuket is nice and everything but I guess it is time for a change. I have been to Chiang Mai several times on holiday and enjoyed it, but of course holiday and living are different things.
Personally, I believe that Chiang Mai would suit my and my families, my first child is due in October, current interests and lifestyle requirements better. I am not into bars and going out a lot, as I did this to excess the first three years in Phuket, as you can guess for a 20something at the time, but prefer privacy and extended weekend trips with my wife. I guess there is a lot to explore around Chiang Mai for a newbie.
From what I can see on this subforum, living tends to be a bit cheaper than Phuket, and schools are cheaper but with an comparable standard.
Overall, I believe that Chiang Mai would be a good option, especially as I am not bound to a location for work.
Is there anyone who has moved from Phuket to Chiang Mai and has any thoughts to share? Of course, anyone else is invited with ideas.

Thailand Etf

ETF's - Exchange Traded Funds, have been a popular choice with many investors in more mature stock markets. Tracking whole indices there is less risk involved, as with buying individual shares. More aggressive investors are also investing in Emerging Market ETF's...
The SET offers ETF's as well, for the SET, SET50 and SET100 and MAI. Does anyone already have experience with the Thai ETF's are they a good way of investing in Thailand or is it better to choose individual stocks?
Looking at the Dow and S&P one understands why ETF's are interesting as these have had the tendency to rise over the long-term. The SET however, is way below it's historic high, but has been on an uptrend this year. So an ETF might be a good way of profiting from the rise, the SET can be quite volatile and not very interesting over the long-term.
If you have any input or advice, would be great and I guess some other novice investors might be interested in that as well.
