In Topic: Ile Entry To Uk

Thanks for that. After re-reading all the UKBA stuff, it does seem like we'll have to go through this hurdle. The next question, I suppose, is how and where we can do the test. The test itself is not a problem (my wife actually speaks, reads and writes quite good English) but we live in Chiang Mai and would prefer not to do multiple trips down to Bangkok. According to Mr Google there is a company called BULATS that does these tests, but apparently only down in BKK.

Thanks again to Lite Beer for the information regards KL. The only thing I don't quite get is

"**Upon application time make sure you do not have any valid Thai visa on your passport**".

What does this mean? Does it mean I have to wait until my current visa has expired before I can apply for a new one. i.e.do I have to fly out to KL, say,  the day before my permission to stay expires, then wait a day in KL before applying for the new one?

Some offices want the money in the bank for 3 months.
Some will accept 2 months. You will have to ask them.
If you need more time you can apply for a 2 month extension to visit your Wife.

KL will issue a Multi Entry Non Imm O Visa if you have at least 100,000 Baht in the bank.

Thanks for that. Do you know how long it takes to issue the visa in KL? And what do they need in the way of documentation? Same as for renewal? i.e. tabian baan, wife's ID, marriage certificate, kid's passports, letter from bank etc.?

In Topic: Where To Buy Used Bicycle In Cm?

There is a second hand bicycle mart out on the street in Doi Saket Kao Road, which is the street behind the old campus of Payap University (Mae Khao site), near the end of the street, where the road turns sharp right onto Kao Nawarat Street. There is another place selling secondhand bikes on Doi Saket Road, near the Sansai market (left hand side as you go out of town). A lot of the bikes look pretty ropey, and may be overpriced. I bought a cheap brand new LA bicycle three years ago (from the LA shop on the Si Phum corner of the moat), and it's still going well. In Thailand it's usually better value to buy new, if you can. It's a lot cheaper in the long run. (That goes for cars too, and just about anything else).

In Topic: 400K Baht Marriage Extension

With regard to the marriage extension. I' m three months away from renewing this for the first time.

First question:  I know it's 400k in the bank for two months, or 40K a month income. But can you (like the retirement visa) add income and deposit together to make up the 400k?

Second question: When I changed from a retirement visa to a marriage visa last year, they needed a lot of information like house registration papers, marriage certificate, wife's ID, maps to the house, family photos, children's  birth certificates etc. etc. ; and they also needed to visit the house. Will that be the same this time?
