Ile Entry To Uk
2012-05-01 10:28:35
I wonder if anyone can help me? I am thinking of returning to the UK in the near future. The plan is for me to go first, and for my wife (Thai nationality) and two children (Thai/UK nationality) to follow later. As my wife and I have been together for more than 4 years, I am assuming that she can enter the UK using the ILE route. I have read all the 'read before posting' stuff, and I think I understand the general procedure. My question is this: since she has never done a LitUK test, (this will have to be done after she gets to the UK), does she need to do an English language test here in Thailand as part of her application procedure? Bear in mind that she is a graduate of a Thai university, (although her course was conducted in the Thai language) and has already entered the UK successfully twice before on 'family visit' visas.
Deadline Looming...

I wonder if anyone out there can help me. I am a 58 year old UK national, and have been living in Chiang Mai for the last three years. I have since married a Thai national, and my wife and I now have two very young children to look after. I came to Thailand three years ago on an O-A visa, which I extended for one year on the basis of retirement. I then changed this to an extension based on marriage. This 'marriage visa' will come up for renewal at the beginning of next year.
The problem is that I have dipped into the 400,000 baht I kept in a deposit account to facilitate my yearly extension of stay. I wasn't too worried about doing this at first, as I understood I could combine my savings and my income (from house rental in the UK) when I came to renew my extension, in the same way that you can with a 'retirement visa'. I now realize that I was given incorrect information, and I am struggling to replace the funds I took out before the deadline for renewal falls.
My first question for the panel of experts out there is: When is the deadline? Is it two months or three months before the date I submit my application for renewal? There seems to be some debate about this. Bear in mind that this will be the second time I have applied for an extension based on marriage.
My second question refers to the possible options I might have if I can't get the cash together in time. I have read on this website that it is possible to fly to Kuala Lumpur, and get a one year multiple-entry visa there, as long as you can prove you are married and have 100,000 in the bank. This wouldn't be a problem. You apparently will have to do a border run every 90 days, but this wouldn't be a problem either. Has anyone done this? Any advice would be much appreciated.
