In Topic: Residencia Spain For Thai Wife

2011-08-07 06:27:51

Hi Shiatsuman - I have sent you a PM.

For the benefit of others going through the same process things have changed. To Summarize here is what you need to do - Because Thailand is not part of the hague conventions your Thai Marriage Certificates needs legalizing and must bear 4 Stamps else it will be rejected.

1) Get your wedding certificate stamped by the local amphur in Thailand. You should have these stamps already if not it must be done prior to going back to Spain.

DONT FORGET Your wedding certificate must be less than 90 days old else they will not accept it in Spain. If it is more than 90 days old just ask the Amphur in Thailand to print you a copy but make sure its stamped with todays date.

2) Get the Thai Wedding Certificate stamped by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand. They do offer an express Service same day. Beware they are a very busy office in Laksi Bangkok

3) Get the Thai wedding certifiate translated in to Spanish. This must be done by a recognised translator who is on the approved government list. You cannot just use any old translation office in   Sukumvit.

4) Then go to the Spanish Embassy in Bangkok and request they stamp your Original and the Translated Certificate. Its a 5 day wait but unlike there friends in Spain they are most helpful.

5) Then off to Madrid to get the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Stamp both the original and translated Wedding certifiatest. This is free of charge and can be done in 1 hour but you need an appointment and cannot just turn up.

6)Then go to the British Embassy in Malaga and ask for the foreign recognition Certificate. You and the wife will have to swear on oath before its issued. They bind them all together for 175 euros :)

6) Once you have done the above present it to your lcoal foreign office in Spain and you will be ok. You dont need an appointment providing your in the first 50 in the queue, failing that you will not be seen unless you have an appointment.

This link is very useful and it kind of tells you what to do as previously mentioned above. http://ukinspain.fco...oreign-marriage

Any questions please ask.

The internet is a wonderful forum where anyone can post anything at any time.

Sadly it may not all be true.

The Settlement Visa can not be obtained 'in a single day'. Fact. The application once accepted is emailed to the UK. That is, the online application plus the relevant supporting material. That excludes the comprehensive lists that appear here.

However, lets consider the possible time scale. It goes to the Uk, in a queue where it is then read assessed, approved or not, the result is emailed back to the Visa agency in Thailand where a Visa is then issued.

One day for that is simply not possible.

Also, the Visa agency states it has a 70% completion date within 30 days. It has nothing, repeat nothing with one day, it has under exceptional circumstances [ these are always life or death equivalents] managed one visa for one person within one week. One.

Be realsitic and consider the 70% figure. Miss that boat and you're waitng a further 30 days. total now running at 60 days.

Finally, they have decalred a maximum wait of 90 days. You can wait a long time but ninety days is not possible as it is only the working days [5] that count. Therefore, the 12 weeks maximum is 84 days in reality. As 3 equal sections that makes 28 days not 30; 56 days not 60.

I have up to date, independant information on Settlement Visa application; free of agencies, touts or persons with a business interest. I've done it and recently too. My info. is accurate.

The Application can be thorough but the lengths shown on here are actually too general and include nfo. not required and more importantly not deemed pertinent.

I shall attempt to post a new thread.

The settlement Visa Application we presented was approved in 1 day and thats a fact. Not sure why you think other wise, so whoever you have been talking to they have mislead you maybe you have got the wrong end of the stick.

I dont know what the turn around is now but why on earth would I lie about soemthing like this.  in future get your facts right before you call other people a liar
