Just got a 60 day extension for visiting my daughter. 5 days into the extension I had to leave the country. Tried to get a re-entry permit at Suvarnabhumi Airport, but was told it was not possible to do this on this kind of extension, only on a Visa.
I assume they were right. No big deal, can go to CW to get a new another 60 days if I want.

Is It Legal For A Thai Citizen To Have A Savings Account Outside Thailand?
2012-01-22 11:00:36
I am a bit confused. I have Googled internet and Thaivisa and apologize if this has been answered before.
Our daughter is Thai/European and my girlfriend would like to save some funds for her in Europe. No problem to open bank account in Europe (just an e-mail with copy of European passports).
On Kasikornbanks website they have a function for "International Funds Transfer". You need to have a pre-approval of the Beneficiary. When trying to sign up a new beneficiary, you have to specify the objective of the transfer, and it gives you 3 choices;
I chatted with Kasikornbank, and basically they said "No problem, you can do it at the branch".
Off to the branch we went to send USD2000. We wrote "Gift" on the application form. The request was processed within a few minutes (cost 100+400 when chosing "shared costs") but I noticed they wrote "Personal expenses" on the receipt.....
I appreciate any information about this matter.

- Thai who is a permanent resident abroad

Local Land Department In Bangkok Says They Will Not Accept To Register A Usufruct
2010-11-16 11:42:36
Just about to buy a small house in the outer Bangkok area. Nothing fancy, a few million baht. Already mentally have written off the money, but still thought I would register a Usufruct in order to not let my girlfriend feels she get the house tooo easy.... (we have a 1 year old child - thats the reason why I buy it in the first place).
Asked my secretary to call the Land Department where the house is, and they said (after talking to the "head") that they would not accept to register a Usufruct, as they considered it a circumvention of the rules to let a Alien control/own land.....
Does it actually mean they want undertable money to do it?
This Banana Republic never ceases to amaze me
