True Home Internet Modem Issue

2012-05-04 14:44:47

I have True internet at home with a ZyXEL wireless modem.  About 3 days ago I started having connectivity problems, where the wireless signal goes in and out every minute or so.  I compared notes with people at work, and 4 other people have the same problem.  We all contacted True support around the same time and, just today, True is finally admitting that it is a widespread problem.  I am assuming they will need to replace the modems, as they had this problem previously and had to replace modems about a year ago.

Has anyone else had this problem?  And, why can't True fess up and be proactive about this?  Real corporations post something on their website, tell customers to call support, and offer billing reductions.  It's a PR fiasco.

Has This Non-B (Multi-Entry) Visa Been Canceled?

2012-02-07 14:54:18

I'm legal counsel for an MNC (BOI company) which employs a lot of foreign workers.  I have a foreign worker who is going through the work permit application process now.  She was issued a non-B (multi-entry) in the UK which was set to expire on February 22.  Last week, she took a trip to Myanmar, and when she returned, the airport immigration agent told her that she would be better off getting a 30-day waiver stamp, rather than continuing with her non-B.  So, she got the waiver stamp which now gives her permission to stay until March 3.

So, my question is, whether I will be able to get her a work permit, as her non-B might have been canceled when she got the 30-day waiver?  I should have a BOI letter of approval for her work permit and extension of stay on February 14 and am planning to submit her application to immigration and employment (1-stop shop) on February 16.

Female Condoms

I need to buy some female condoms.  I checked several pharmacies along Sukhumvit with no luck.  Has anybody seen these in the stores?

Us Visa For Cambodian Worker

2011-04-27 11:16:47

I have an unusual situation.  I work for a foreign company (BOI) which employs a Cambodian worker (legally, with WP).  We are setting up a US company (already incorporated).  We need to send our Cambodian worker to the U.S. for about 2 weeks to perform some work for us (really on behalf of our new US company).

Which is quicker and which is easier: a B1 visa or a tourist visa?  I suppose another option would be to send him for training as well, but would that make him eligible for an education visa?
How long will it take to process this and how long is the visa valid.  I've heard stories of waits of 6 months to a year just to get the interview.

Makes me happy I don't live in the US any more!

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice.

Thalassemia - Genetic Blood Disorder

2011-04-15 19:31:06

My girlfriend who lives in Chiang Rai has thalassemia.  Both of her parents had it.  She probably will need to get her first blood transfusion next month.  There must be quite a few members out there who have had experiences with treatment for this disease.  I'd like to know how much Thais have to pay for the various modalities of treatment: blood transfusion, splenectomy, iron chelation and stem cell therapy (if that's even offered in Thailand).
