For all of you that think this is an 'urban myth'..
Do you really believe that the youth of Pattaya are happy to see fat, sweaty, aged foreigners walking hand in hand [grasping tightly for fear of escape?] young thai females?

The youth of Pattaya don't give a flying f*** about it. You're living in the dark ages. It's been a part of Thai culture for decades and you're probably the only one who gives a sh** about it. It's not like they all don't know most of the girls are working girls.

Thai people have got to be some of the most permissive people in the world. Guys walking hand in hand - ladyboys everywhere you look. Why you think Thailand is such a popular tourist destination despite every effort to scare them away (military coups, bombs, airport closures etc etc).

Somebody ought to buy a dictionary. Rampage? Hardly merits the terminology of fracas at best.

So drunk, we are told, that he committs multiple assaults due to being heavily intoxicated, and yet has the co-ordination and faculties to ride away [from motorcycle taxi professionals] on a motorbike.

Has the next Valentino Rossi just been discovered? He certainly must have a rare motorcycling ability.

Two bar girls go with two drunks for sex having been paid. I thought that was the bed rock of Pattaya. Must be strange girls to cower at the sight of a drunken tourist wanting a roll in the hay. At best a minute's worth of fumbling followed by slumber.

Still they run away terrified - having been paid and poor Paddy is left to recover his dignity and money. Which he partly does. Of course we all know how easy it must be to have arranged a sexual liaison in Thailand - a land free of prostitution - and a fall out and simply been returned one's money. It happens all the time. Sure.

The bar owner had a vested interest having procurred, supplied and profitted from the rental of young Thai women for sex. The girls themselves were clearly deeply involved in what went on but I can't understand just how street motorcyclists - those taxi guys - ever got involved.

Surely it wasn't yet another case of taxi thugs beat up tourists / rob them? It can't have been that as the taxi men got a good hiding that style. Although a couple of stab wounds is passe compared with the Thai prediliction for openingh the cranium with a solid piece of 4 by 2 that always appears ready to hand.

This time the boot was on the other foot ........... or rather the knife was in the other's hand.

And as we all know Pattaya has to see justice be done Pattaya style.

Without star gazing or crystal ball polishing too much let me venture what will happen next. In keeping with tradition the foreigners will be locked up until pay day. Should they need convincing then a starvation diet naked in a cell with no facilities will speed up their conclusion.

The emptying of an ATM is a certainty.

They may be spared court appearences every 10 days and simply kept in the dungeons of Beach Road so that officially there will be no record of them.

As their Nationality indicates we are not sure whether they are Northern or Southern. It is to be hoped it is the latter. Otherwise they wou;d come under the consular care of dear Howard, the finger in the pie Walking Street, TV, lost the plot  honorary consul, so responsible for leaving so many Brits to rot at the hands of the police while providing them a packet of crisps and a bottle of water. Just the once. Obviously Howard finds being chained naked and covered in your own excrement an acceptable punishment for being homeless in Pattaya.

That was the last time. Correction. There's been others since.

Back to Paddy and Mick then .............. it'll be spun that they are the devil's sperm and the Thai police of Pattaya with the full ignorance of those who reside in City Hall and are really to be avoided, will show just how amazing Thailand really is.

Finally, bear in mind the few facts from the case; prostitution from a bar; fight; injuries. The Irish were compensated which indicates they were in the right.

Logic, reasoning, common sense leads one to think that a man wearing shorts can hardly conceal a knife about him. Taxi motorcycle gang members do regularly intervene and in large numbers attack foreigners.

Fact: this time they got a good hiding.

what a complete load of crap, I will only say this - if a Thai girl goes to a falang room and something happens that she doesn't like the best right and only thing she can do is leave - that is her choice and I would never fault her or anyone for having that and making that choice, the bar owner returned the money - no problem so far

The taxi drivers and security got involved when these scum bags wouldn't accept that and proceeded to cause a riot in the bar assaulting a number of falangs who where most likely just telling them to leave and put it down to experience, the taxi driver and security got involved because there where people getting injured and tried to help their falang friends immediately opening themselves to attack and danger. These two idiots then did a runner and decided to return and weild vengence on those involved using knives, I hope they get locked up for a long time or are set free and taught a lesson thai style.

and may I also add there where no large numbers of taxi drivers that sort of thing doesn't happen in new plaza there where at most 2x security guards and 2x taxi drivers trying to help get rid of these two thugs

it is simply amazing how many on here really don't have a clue even when you've been told what happened, the girls got cold feet when they went to the room and wanted to leave and they did, up to them, the two thugs returned to the bar and - FACT -  got their bar fine back without question and all was happy after that, they then had a few more drinks in the same bar and started a fight with other falangs in the bar at which point the MB taxi drivers and security interviened to try and subdue the situation, the two falngs where unwilling to listen to reason and proceeded to get their ass wooped by a couple of thais half their size, they went home and the injured falang customers in the bar went to hospital, they then returned wanting revenge and armed with a knife attacked the motorbike taxi driver and a young security guard almost fatally stabbing them and left the scene, since this time both have been arrested and released from custody after paying large sums of money to both the injured falangs and the thais, they are out and not in jail, one was on holiday and the other (the guy with the knife) lives here - I suspect for not much longer, you can debate this for another 20 pages on this forum and spill your crap about the falang victims and the bar fines and the bar girls and the rogue MB taxi drivers, the truth is what is written above and that is the end of that.

for those that are constantly dwelling on the fact that they think the Bar owner identified the guy by his full name - yes that is literally what you would take from the statement in the OP but that is wrong, she identified the guy once the police had apprehended them by pointing at him - his full name came came from his passport, why is it so difficult for some of you to get that, yes in literal terms that is not what you would think it said but it is obviously just a badly written sentence - it probably should have read - the bar owner identified the falang who's identitiy is now known to be ............................... what is so difficult to understand about that , some of you people really don't have much of a clue as to how to read stuff in Thai news articles - which are very rarely written correctly, now put this matter to bed and don't bring it up again as it's plain stupid

and for those who think the Thai guys sole aim is to bash falangs at every opportunity you are 100% wrong, I can without doubt say that this is the opposite case in New Plaza, there was a fight going on the length of the street when these falangs came back for vengence with weapons, any falang customers there would have been firmly on side of the Thais and bar owners who don't want scum like this drinking there - all over a 300baht bar fine which they got back, what a stupid thing to do, now I'd like to see either of them or their friend walk into new plaza again - possibly a different story, and if they don't get locked up I'd be moving house if I was them or getting out of dodge altogether

And I might add I am not saying there aren't certain areas in Pattaya where a falang could end up in big trouble if he behaved badly but they are mostly tourist areas like walking street, most of the patrons in new plaza are expats and dare I say it are more civilised and knowledgable about how to behave in Pattaya, they have fun get drunk and these very same taxi drivers and security guards take very good care of them.

For those posting here that don't know the area you have little to contribute to this thread with your generalisations about Thais - it doesn't apply to everywhere

"The bar owner identified one of the suspects as Darren Philip Delaney."

The Bar owner knows this guy really well, I have close personal friends whom I have known for 20+ years and if you ask me what thier middle names are, I wouldn't have a clue.  So I can only assume that the two alledged offenders were not simply tourists but long term expats who frequent this bar and the owner is a Farang also.  A Thai person would identify someone as Mr Darren.  A middle name means nothing to a Thai and a Thai would not identify him as Darren "Philip" Delany.

Don't take a job as a prosecutor whatever you do Posted Image

The girls went to his house which he could have owned or rent long term or short term.

Most likely he's not a tourist I'll give you thatPosted Image

Either way they knew where he lived and the girls would surely know his "Wa' Yua name?"

Police would ask the girls where he stayed, go there grab him and his passport take him back to the bar "Is this the guy?"

Could easily have been  only  the 2nd time the bar owner had seen him in his life.

correct, the bar owner identified him - the name came from his passport, some people posting here just read into things way too literally.

And to Paul Jones - this is not a "Jet Ski scam" it is far from it, not all Thais are of the same ilk as those scum on the beach, your references and generalisations are dissapointing, I know the staff who work in New Plaza and they certaintly are far from violent and as already mentioned usually are extremely tolerant to some very rude drunk falangs on a daily basis, maybe they won't be so tolerant now when they see where it can get them

I wonder if this is the same Delainy that was banged up in Liverpool for 18months threatening to slice some police officers with a sword - you never know

New Plaza is a peaceful and usually safe place to have a beer, the only violence I've ever seen there in 3 years has been 100% falangs with no Thais involved - English bar owners beating up drunk customers - drunk falang customers fighting each other, the Thai guys involved in this did not do anything wrong of that I am 100% certain.

I know there are exceptions, but living here 20 years I have never seen a problem in a bar that was not initiated by a drunk client.

If a man pays a barfine it is to take the girl out of the bar. The moment he and she step out the door, it's it. It's not a refundable 1y warranty purchase in Harrods.
If she runs away, it's a problem between you and her. Complain to the bar owner, fine. Enough complaints, and the bar owner will have to consider if it's good business to keep her.

The girls are in a vulnerable position, physically weaker, sometimes with drunk men. They are very entitled to say no and bail out.

Where did the knives come in? If the Irishmen carried them to the scene I'd jail them for a very long time.

The way I read it, 2 clowns were drunk off their ass, got dam_n lucky that they were refunded their bar fines for the girls who wanted nothing to do with them, and then came back more than once to cause trouble with Thai people.

   Darwin award winners, anyone?

these asswipes got what they deserved, they should have quit while they were ahead.

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Some people don't like being picked on by a mob and will retaliate. It's quite telling that there are four victims here and only two suspects.

It seems to me like the usual situation where a mob attacked a couple of people but this time the mob lost the brawl.

That's right. Blame the 'Thai mob'

Read the story. The Irish returned to get their money back. The owner gave them their money. They weren't satisfied for some reason, caused more ruckus and assaulted two customers in the bar. Staff and motorcycle guys came to aid of bar owner.  The Irish left. The bar was shut down and owner of bar takes two unidentified victims to hospital. The two farangs then returned to the bar and started the brawl with the 4 Thai guys who had probably forced them to leave after the money was refunded.

Why don't you read the facts before posting?

They insist to get the 500 Baht.
Bye the way. She continue to sell her noodles over the night. There are enough lights around witch make the shop well visibly.
They just tried to find a way to get some money from the "Farang" And they where successful.

The 500 Baht is actually not my problem...the problem is a drunken PO in public.  :ermm:
If you don't like it go back where you came from.

500 is fair enough  -  people like you give the rest of us forigners a bad name.

Please stop drinking and driving OP. Next time it might be a young child you didn't see.

Odd isn't it that you haven't made a similar comparison to the Thai lady not thinking about electrocuting a young child EVERY DAY with her dangerous electrics in the road and open to the elements. :ermm: BUT then again I/we are used to you knocking farangs eh.

#3925697 What Do Farang Get Out Of The Farang Bar Scene?

Posted Chunky1 on 2010-10-03 19:09:00

You go into a bar geared towards the farang and the first thing that happens is an unattractive woman attempts to converse with you in order to size you up as a potential mark asking you a series of questions in order to gauge your naivety and desperation. And you are supposed to be paying for this experience? You would have to pay me to sit in one of these bars, yet somehow it is the thriving lifeblood of Thailand's tourist industry?

#3893822 Pattaya Monorail?

Posted TomBrown on 2010-09-20 01:38:22

I'm kind of for it, although I do acknowledge negative points too, as there is with most things I suppose.

Anyway, possible valid reasons, just off the top of my head?...

During prolonged heavy rain / flooded Beach Road & Second Road, would allow more people to continue about their business, in stead of being stranded.

If they plan it well enough, join the monorail to a yet to be built multi-story parking at Sukhumvit end of North Road and at Central Road, where visitors to Pattaya (for example weekend visitors from Bangkok) could park and get the monorail around the city. Would then cut down on road congestion, air pollution, possible aggressive driving and accidents in the city. I suppose a multi-story parking at North Road might also benefit some who'd use the bus station too. Might also benefit Bangkok taxi drivers who want customers to take back to Airport / Bangkok, but don't want encroach on Pattaya City taxis. I'm kind of deviating here.

Monorail could be a potential tourist attraction (with or without the corkscrew loop – lol). Not everyone wants to go by open air taxi anyway, especially in the rain.

Bring Pattaya into the news in a positive light.

In their vision of the future, they maybe see it as one step closer to being a mini-bangkok-by-the-beach.

Photo vantage points from monorail and station platforms.

Potential reason to spruce up the city, as more of the city will be visible from the monorail.

Allow tourists to stay clear of the suit sellers and green laser pen sellers.
