Tempting Fate And Repelling Snakes

2011-02-19 21:30:27

Literally an hour after I'd just said to F1fanatic that we'd never had any snakes in this house . . . guess what? Yes, that's right an angry cobra slithers into my bedroom.

It's dead now.

Thankfully.  :jap:

So two questions,

1. Tempting fate - anyone believe this because it always happens to me, like premonitions. Get this a lot, like when the truck engine blew up last time.

2. Any electronic snake repelling devices that work to stop these deadly pests coming anywhere near the house?

Has 3G Come To The Sticks Yet?

2011-02-09 23:45:58

So I was looking at this wondering that perhaps, just maybe, my suffering at the hands of EDGE may soon come to an end.

AIS 3G coverage, not sure about the little triangles

Anyone running 3G up here? I'm about 45 mins north of Roi-Et, right in the heart of 2G darkness.

Glycemic Index Of Rice Varieties

2011-01-22 13:56:54

Anyone have a list of rice varieties and their corresponding glycemic index? I'm struggling to find this via the font of all knowledge that is Google.

Apparently brown (very brown) rice has a glycemic index of around 50, which is fairly low whereas white rice can often be over 100 which can be near life threatening for the likes of me. I've found 'black' rice in Makro, 80 Baht for 2 kilos which is very nice, far more pleasant than any other varieties I've tried. But I need to confirm it has a low glycemic index.

Thanks.

Non-Immigrant 'O' Visa

2011-01-12 19:02:15

Been a year since I last went to Phnom Penh for the Non-O.

Looking at the Royal Thai Consulate Phnom Penh visa, asks for a Medical Certificate from a Thai Hospital as a required document.

RTC Phnom Penh

Anyone know anything about this?

Tripod

2011-01-12 00:12:57

A photographer friend in the UK says the most important instrument in photography and the first thing to consider is the tripod.

He says 3 leg sections is the best.

So, any recommends on a sturdy tripod/head for LX5/GF1 use?

I've been looking at the Benro Combo range. Specifically the A-250 EX with BH00 ball head. It's a reasonable price at 2700 Baht.
