In Topic: Abhisit Slams Thai Govt On Issues About Thaksin

Abhisit had his chance to separate the reds from Thaksin, by bringing some red leaders into the government - he didn't take it.

Both sides want the whole cake.

The trouble with recommending good eating places is that it is directly against ones' self interest - The good food stalls are crowded enough already!
So just look for very busy places, and you won't go far wrong. Busy with Thai & falang, that is. And experiment by going to different food stall crammed areas. It's fun too.

Good headlight is a BIG plus, but I can't see it competing with the Kwaker as a sports bike.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't see the ABS being any help to me when I'm cranked over, so what use is it?
I love singles, so am prejudiced in the Hondas' favour, but think the Ninja is better, or the D Tracker, for those who prefer a more comfortable riding position.

The private companies can not sell weapons of war without government approval. After government approval the weapons are purchased by other governments.  The business in the West is highly regulated.  In some cases not only executive branch approval but congress as well.  There are treaties and international agreements governing most international arms sales.  That's why countries get upset when a rouge dealer comes in and ignores sanctions and embargoes that were put in place by individual countries or the UN.

So what you are saying is that you support corporatism?

I think he's saying he supports regulatory bodies in the arms industry. I think I do, too. It would mean that every war-grade weapon would be accounted for. You'd have to get everyone to fall in line though... that means private traders like Bout, N Korea, Thai soldiers who steal RPGs from their armouries and so on. Not easy I'd imagine. Or should I say impossible?

You've as much chance of regulating the banks.
To get back to topic:

I've read the book, AND seen the film -
so he's obviously guilty.
As if our media would in any way mislead us.

Well here's a list that will no doubt irritate Housepainter -  We have beautiful weather, good cheap food & accommodation, no huge central heating bills, no poll tax, the freedom to do am awful lot of things that would be forbidden in Europe (&America).
Old codgers (like me) can have a really pleasant relationship with a girl 1/3rd my age, beer is cheap, so are small motorcy, the people are unfailingly smiley under pretty crap conditions that really deserve a whine or two, & you can even get away with not learning the language (not recommended) - and there's lots of expats to befriend. Crime is low - especially compared to England, so too for violence.
Is it just a habit brought on by having lived many years in a cold windswept country, where a bad cup of coffee costs a fiver, and eating out is only for those with pockets as deep as Michael Winners'. (Or else it's McDonalds). Even homeless people have it (arguably) better here - sleeping out in winter is not a death sentence, & the Wats will feed you, though the menu may be a little restricted.
Agreed, the dead baby issue is grim, but as said before, a safe 'morning after' pill would make a world of difference.
