This town has got to have the worst Thai and Farang people of anywhere in Thailand.

Yes I did live there.

Yes I was assaulted there.

It is an absolute cesspool of humanity.

Just look around.

Doc

So a bit of the cesspool is now elsewhere.....I'm sure the citizens of Pattaya are happy with that...I know I am....

Maybe he slipped on the tiles while getting out of the shower because he was rushing back to his computer to comment on one of Jings food/deli threads!!  Posted ImagePosted Image

RIP German poster

Yes RIP. Your theory is as valid as the asthma one. I find it offensive that the press here always lists dead people's medications as if that really means anything.

Would you prefer for you Jing they comment on your last meal?.....and before he slipped on the wet tiles he had consumed.....at a very reasonable price, in an air conditioned, but not too crowded restaurant, where the service was efficient, delivered with a smile, if a little on the slow side

#5326916 What Is The Pattaya "Dark Side"

Posted pluto_manibo on 2012-05-24 10:31:16

For me Darkside has been home for 10 yrs. It has changed immensely since then but I still enjoy what it has to offer. Frankly, I have no interest in the hole in the wall bars and all the useless banter that comes with it. However, I do enjoy the more natural surroundings of the area ( not busy soi nerm plub waan/kao noi or kao thalo), bike rides, cross country running, motorcross, fast access to motorway, lakes, golf courses, more and more varied restaurants, wider plots of land, lack of 2 week idiots who feel they know all and are rude. If you live here, you have access to everything Pattaya has to offer, when and if you want it, without having to face the ugliness of it 24 hrs a day. Sadly, as it happens everywhere, this will change with time....then it will be time to move somewhere else!

Well, there must be so many lonely hermits here, if you dont have a single friend that you can trust.....what kind of life do some people have.

There's a huge difference between trusting friends and trusting agents/lawyers.

And we are talking about how people who are not living in Thailand can sell property. They may have only used the condo for holidays and never lived there, or they may have moved back several years ago and first now decided to sell.

Sophon
Yes but the OP isnt as negative, bitter and twisted about property in Thailand as some others are that dont miss a chance whatever the topic is to debase anyone involved in property

#5283955 Mae Wong Area Should Be Protected As Wildlife Sanctuary

Posted Kan Win on 2012-05-08 20:02:42

So lets have all the floods like last year and then this year's droughts.

Well done to all of you that says "Mae Wong Area Should Be Protected As Wildlife Sanctuary" for what?

I ask you all?

Birds fly away and the walking wildlife have to move on due west.

What I am saying is that in Kan we have two very large Dams with a lot of wildlife, birds etc. built 20 odd years ago which has helped farmers and this Province (two rivers) safe from flooding and life goes on here as normal during last year's floods.

What is more importent is that farmers can sow, reep and feed folks in Thailand, make a few baht for themselves and most of all keep the flood water down.

P.S. and if this Dam can make power as well like the ones in Kan, that would be an added bonus, then no need for the Nuke ones then.

#5312581 Thai Women Extorting Money From Farlangs Through Facebook

Posted ShanePashen on 2012-05-19 07:15:13

I wonder if I create a fake profile for myself on facebook, get some photo's of a hot Thai chick.
knock on a few doors so to speak.
Maybe I could make a few bucks myself.
At least stock up the wine cellar a bit.
yes some people really ARE THAT STUPID.

#5309923 Screwed Up And Got Stuck With A Company Owned Condo. Now Looking For Advice.

Posted Langsuan Man on 2012-05-18 09:21:32

Quote

I do read these pages often.  And am still waiting for a link that shows where somebody has been kicked out of their house SOLELY due to ownership being in a Thai nominee company.  No extraneous factors, such as pending legal matters due to marriage or debt.

Other than land confiscated from a foreign motocycle gang in Phuket, you won't find it ( and that was for money laundering) .  A fact that is conveniently lost on the RENT, RENT, only RENT brigade

#5309451 Poll: Would It Be Good For Business In Thailand To Change The Name To Siam?

I don't buy the "imperial name" thing as any kind of argument. What the name pushed by a fascist dictator is better? Come on now ...Posted Image

And do you really believe that a change of name is going to diminish a country’s turbulent history or reputation around the world?

The problem is the examples you have quoted for reasons why Thailand should revert back to it`s previous name of Siam, quote: Sex tourist haven, tsunami, financial crisis, land of scams, land of IP theft, floods, corruption, riots, coups, etc. is typical of the impressions that many Westerners have of the country, mainly bad propaganda fed to the public by the Western media and of course like you, many believe this as being fact, or in other words, I saw it on TV or read in a newspaper, so it must be true.

If this is what the West wants to believe regarding the Thai nation as a whole, than I would guess that according to the Thais, that’s our problem and I very much doubt they have concerns regarding our opinions of Thailand and the Thai people, especially considering that most of this trash is only half baked truths anyway and has been well exaggerated and taken far out of proportion over the years.

#5304914 Flooding Again This Year?

Posted bendix on 2012-05-16 13:07:44

I heard a rumour that there is a volcano will erupt in Bangkok later this year?  Is there any evidence for this, or is it just a rumour?

Seriously OP, what the hell sort of question is that?  How can there be rumours about natural events? What do they teach kids in school these days, cos it sure isn't common sense?

Many of the units purchased here are for holidays only.  Down where I live, near the Ambassador, there are huge apartment buildings right on the beach.  At night, only a few units have lights on.  But during holidays, they're packed.  I have quite a few friends who own units in Jomtien and central Pattaya who only live here part time.  And many units are owned by Thais who live in Bangkok.

I saw that monstrosity on the corner of Thappraya and Pratumnak roads.  Talk about an upcoming traffic jam.

Thats the same with that huge condo project they are building next to Sukhumvit near Bkk/Patt hospital, rather small units I been told and only something like 60k pr M2, they are mainly targeting Thais that want a get-away from BKK.
5 years ago the Thais was not very interested in Pattaya but that have certainly changed now.

Maybe says something about what a hell-hole Bangkok has become.

I think it's because they spend all week in traffic jams in Bangkok that they want to experience the same 'at home' feeling in Pattaya on their weekends.

I always thought they changed the name of the country so that Whispering Ted could say "Wattana Thailand" instead of "What an ass I am"...

#5302796 Mama Instant Noodle To Freeze Prices For 4 Months: Thailand

My concern is that most of the people eating that aren't even aware of the connection (poor education?) and also how many low cost alternatives exist for them that will fill bellies so cheaply? It's funny Thailand is known globally for Thai food yet so many of the actual Thais subsist on such a poor staple food.

If people are aware, and there actually are similarly priced healthier alternatives, and they just choose to not care, I see no problem. But the current situation, I see a problem.

I do not believe that it is due to poor education. Even educated people all over the world do not know what is heathy or not. Who can blame them. In my time I have been told that milk is good/bad for you. Eggs are good/bad for you. Red meat is good/bad for you. It just depends on what you read on which day.  Posted Image

However - look on the positive side.

Many people who eat the stuff (due to lack of funds?) can be happy knowing that the price is stable for a while.
