Lets just get rid of all the laws, balances and checks and let the politicians rüun riot and empty government coffers and do what they want ?

Is that not called a coup?

Your obviously weren't around when Taksin declared himself stand in prime minister.  The last coup occurred because of abuse of power. I was around when it happened and understand why it occurred.

She has all the hallmarks of a lady opportunist. You are the meal ticket for her. You meet alot of girls like her in Bangkok; typical freelancers who will tell you they are not like other girls. Why has she had so many guys? She is fishing and hasn't hooked a catch yet? I would go with the duck theory.

This is basically the system used in the UK/Germany/Holland etc. Thus its a bit of a no brainer to adopt a standard that is well established elsewhere. So they can continue to pat themselves on the back on what a good job they did!

In the UK in the early days of DVB you could buy cheapy add on tuners to receive DVB broadcasts. I probably still have on in my loft. You then hook this up to your regular TV and you are away.

Generally the DVB is an add on small board to the TV so you be can be sure no Thai tvs have it. It doesn't make sense to incorporate the board (with the cost associated) if it can't be used.

Here is the wiki page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVB-T2

I am sure they won't initially broadcast HD. Plain old DVB would be a big improvement.

I stayed at the On On the first time in Jan 1972. I met my first bedbug there. The island has been going downhill ever since. I wouldn't go to Phuket if you paid me - a lot!

Me too! I vowed back in 1998 never to return to Phuket. Well I did last year and regretted doing so. I remember when there was just a string of bungalow operations behind the beaches.

Let this article be a lesson to those of you who want to retire in Thailand: what happens when you get really old?
