i just found another tip. rawai hardware has soda ash and sang som (aluminum sulphate). you can buy by the kg and is cheaper than the pool shops.

there's a pcx performance place on visit road, about 1km south of the circle. on the left as you are going south. same plaza as rossovivo restaurant. if you get to the supercheap, you've gone too far.
i saw them painting one a really cool yellow/green color, wouldn't mind doing it too but alas, no money
they have some really cool seats too

Friendship beach is the go, they even have a 60 baht happy hour between 4 and 6, Dont know if a lot of people will stick around after 6 though, the beers go up to 90.
Or another option is Nakitas. Top spot, but again the 45baht Chang draft drinkers will be disappointed with the prices....but the prices do weed out the undesirables.
Actually the best idea is we have one party at Nakitas, and then opposite there is a 7-11 so more than a few of the regular punters on here would be more comfortable sitting on the steps outside 7-11, and with the constant chiming "Bing Bong' of the sliding doors they would feel right at home.

i totally agree with both these ideas. nice locations and since Rawai is now top in the pole, followed by Chalong which is basically Rawai without the bars, then it seems to make sense.

by the way, i'm looking for an electric scooter, not a bicycle, i doubt the wife is into pedaling

that's true but they don't seem to have the 50b happy hour prices that the rawai bars have. at least they didn't the last time i looked a couple of weeks ago
BTW, the strip around corner bar and asia bar seems to be jammed up with farangs in the late afternoon just recently. no low season there.
