We've been using a small IT company for 4 years for our central Bangkok office.  K. Patt and his team set up the network, server and our lap tops and calls in whenever we have a problem.  Worked out well for us and cost not high.  If you are interested, PM me and I'll send you his details.

2-Bed new condo near BTS or MRT will be more like 5-8m THB.

You'll need to be at the extreme ends of the BTS or MRT to be within your budget for a new condo unless it's a smaller one bathroom type, although there's some older condos that may be within the budget.

One bed can be found in your budget.

Prices drop quite a bit as you move away from the BTS ... if it's not for use all year round, you may be better looking away from the BTS and using motorsia/taxis?

I'm not sure I could really enjoy cod, chips and mushy peas without a cold wind-swept beach to look at and a bus stop to huddle in?

That would be like eating som tam in the snow, or eating a kebab when sober  .... some things need context to be fully enjoyed.

I think the irritation described the OP only applies to the General Topics Forums.

Post a question in any of the specialist forums and you get useful replies from genuine enthusiasts.  You could buy a house/car/motorbike, find the ideal school, open a fish farm and build a swimming pool, then take great photos of your handywork using the masses of good advice in the other forums.  But steer clear of the angry old men who seem to lurk in the General forum waiting to pounce on unwary posters and grammar crimimals.

Thanks Canuck,
Has anyone had problems with overheating? I haven't had a problem. Just wondering about running an air-cooled engine in sweltering hot Thailand. Also, just curious, is 45,000 about what people are paying for these (new)? The dealer here wanted 50,000 and came down to 45,000 pretty quickly. Only one place out here sells them, so it's a bit tough to compare prices.

Air cooling can be less likely to overheat in hot weather than water cooled.  The difference in temperature between ambient air in Thailand and the heat of a radiator in a water cooled bike is small (around 70'C differential), which is why the electric fan cuts in more often to keep it cool, but the difference in temperature between ambient air and the cylinder cooling fins on an air cooled bike is huge (200'C+), so the difference between a hot Tropical summer and cold European winter is not significant for an air cooled motor.

Water cooling has other advantages (more control over cylinder temperature so tighter tolerances are possible, more even cooling to prevent hot spots in the cyclinder ... all these give power and efficiency advantages but at the cost of (a small) increased risk of overheating in hot weather.

An air cooled bike with an oil cooler to keep the oil in good condition is ideal for the tropics, but there's a penalty in power output when comparing like for like engine sizes between air and liquid cooled bikes.  So my Keeway RKV200 puts out about the same power as a PCX 150 .... but I know which one I'd choose for a longer ride.
