Transferring Money Out Then Back In To Thailand For A Condo - Advice Needed.

2012-05-22 14:56:36

I've been reading the posts on the need to remit money from abroad to buy a condo in Thailand and (I think) this means I need to transfer my funds out of Thailand then back in again to buy a condo?

I live and work in Thailand and have a Work Permit and Business Visa but I'm not a (Purple Book) Thai resident.

I get paid a salary in Thailand so my savings are in a Thai bank account, so I don't think I can use this as the 50% deposit on a Condo.

But can I transfer this money out of Thailand, then make a transfer back as foreign currency and exchange it back to THB onshore and state the reason for the transfer as 'Buying a Condo' and then use the funds for the deposit.

Will there be any issues with the transfer out and back?  I guess it will also cost me a bit in the currency exchanges and transfer fees.

Is there a smarter (legal) way of doing this?  I don't fancy carrying bags of cash out of the country.

Thanks for any advice!

Where To Buy Lightweight Bike Boots In Bangkok?

2012-05-04 10:03:11

I didn't mind too much when the heels fell off my almost unworn black leather work shoes, but this is getting serious now that the soles fell off my Gore-tex bike boots.  I guess it must be the heat?  The rubber soles have just crumbled to dust.

I bought the boots from the UK, and they've had light use for the last 5 years in India and Thailand.  The uppers are perfect, but the soles just fell apart while I was riding.  (I thought my footpeg rubbers had fallen off at first, then realised it was my boots!).

Any suggestions on where I can get short bike boots in Bangkok in falang size (45).

And any suggestions on how to stop the next pair crumbling away?  Keep them in the fridge??

Keeway Rkv 200 - Any Good?

2012-04-30 16:48:27

I was putting my Nouvo 135 in for it's pre-sale service before ordering a D-Tracker when I saw a couple of new Keeway RKV 200's in the shop.

At a thrid of the cost of a D-Tracker it may be worth considering?  What's your thoughts?

My concerns about the D-Tracker are the seat and the small gas tank.  The low power of the Kawasaki is not really an issue for me (main use will be in the city or easy/slow touring), but the Keeway has even less power than the D-Tracker, but a bigger tank and better seat.

I've also seen the Keeway TX 200, which seems to have the same old Honda motor and a 'supermoto' style, but the RKV 200 seems to be a (marginally) more modern design.

Resale value of a Chinese bike is not a concern, as the initial cost is low anyway and life in Bangkok traffic will be hard on any bike.

Been hearing sirens of what must be more than 10 fire engines over last 20 minutes in the Asoke area.  Anyone know what's going on?  Fire?

I Can'T Reply To An Old Post? Do They Become Dormant?

2012-02-23 14:45:54

I wanted to add an update to a post of mine about "Relocation Services - A Users Review" but this post does not appear in My Content or when using the TV search function?

And when I find the original post using Google, there's no option to 'Add Reply'?

Do older post become dormant in some way?  I have much older posts that still seem to be active?

Any suggested appreciated.
