Oz - 12 Month Multi-Entry Visa
2011-09-28 20:33:36
I had a client who was granted a 12 month multiple entry tourist visa with a maximum 3 month each stay. She returned to Thailand after 3 months (1 week) before returning to Australia. She was pulled aside by Immigration upon arrival and told in no uncertain terms that 'visas runs' might be acceptable in Thailand, but not in Australia, and that is she did it again she would be put put on the first plane back as she was clearly not a genuine visitor.

Overstayers In Australia
2011-07-25 23:04:07
Interesting story from today's Daily Telegraph (Sydney) on the number of unlawful non-citizens in Australia. Only 1700 from Thailand, but look at the numbers from the UK and USA. Ironic that they have significant more overstayers, but they are eligible for ETA Visas. Thai nationals however have to jump through hoops to get a visa by making a paper application for a subclass 676 visa.

Has anyone been to the Mandarin Oriental for their Sunday Brunch. If so what do they have on offer? Is it any good?
Visa Row Keeps Couple Apart

An interesting article in today's Sun Herald. Whilst not specifically Thai related, it is particularly relevant to this forum.
I have posted previously on the issues raised in this article, and that is the importance of evidencing that a genuine and continuing spousal relationship exists when applying for an Australian partner visa. A marriage alone is not enough proof.
Anyone applying for a partner visa should be familiar with Regulation 1.15A of the Migration Regulation 1994 that provide for the circumstances to be taken into consideration in determining that a genuine relationship exists.
